Does anyone else have irritating push button catches which keep sticking?  Any advice on a solution or ideas about good lubrication which might make them behave more sensibly!!!

I have on the outside battery locker and tried everything but it got to be a force open with a screw driver job - unlocked but still not opening.  A few months ago I replaced the lock - and it is in danger of going the same way - very annoying I guess something isn't the same shape as it was.

We have push button on the wardrobe in our MH, very annoying when it sticks at crucial time.  Even had to have it drilled open and then had to have it replaced!  Hoping the new catch will perform better.

Would love to know if others suffer too and what the solution is?

I have a small cupboard behind which the table is stored, It too has a push button latch that seems to jam.  However, a little pressure, inwards, on the door seems to release the jam and the catch operates normally. Might have something to do with the way I have pitched up. Not quite level abeam, nor fore and aft perhaps?.

As KjeIINN has already said silicone spray or just furniture  polish does the trick and does not stain the wood. I think lots of them stick.

Silicone spray for us too (Thetford) - dual purpose because we also use it for our cassette toilet seals.  It's part of our 'winterising' routine, to spray all the buttons and latches (and toilet seals, of course) with silicone.

Our caravan is now seventeen years old and all the buttons are still working and on have had to be replaced.

You can also use it if you have those 'curtain tape runners' as it makes them run much more easily.  A real all-purpose spray for caravanners.

Don't use any kind of oil on the buttons or hinges - in cold temperatures it hardens and that helps to make the buttons stick even more than usual!

I see WD also do a silicone spray - was just going to order some from Amazon but someone else does a smaller can which would be handier I think.  3 in 1 also do silicone.

Who can give the definitive guide as to when to use WD40 and when silicone?  Or even when NOT to use silicone?  I understand about WD40 freezing.

WD40 is not supposedly good on plastics. Silicon is generally therefore better on most things caravan  related.
