Electronic AL-CO stablilisers

Sorry folks if this subject has been previously discussed but I am considering fitting AL-CO electronic stabilisers to my Sprite Major 6TD, which I tow with a Hyundia Tuscon 2Ltr, a lot of money but do you think in is worth it.

    If you already have ATC fitted then might come in handy one day, if your outfit is a bit twitchy/not a good match/prone to side winds/overtaking instability then could be a plus, if you don't suffer any abnormal problems when towing and drive sensibly then don't bother spending the money.

    I've towed 4 different vans over the last 20 years with Volvos, BMWs and Fords and have never had ATC.   I tend to drive on the prevailing speed limit and I have been fortunate to never having had more than a slight twitch of the van. I do of course slow down in windy conditions and long hill descents. I've been towing my Coachman 545 VIP for a couple of years with a 2011 Kuga 2.0d  163. Excellent performance and never a hint of bad manners. The Coachman is fitted with ATC. Hitching it to my recently acquired "pre owned" BMW X3 I noticed that the outfit was less stable than it used to be. Conditions we a bit windy so I was taking things easy but my 150 mile journey on mainly motorway was not a relaxing experience. On two occasions the outfit went into a snake quite suddenly. The ATC activated quite vigorously and pulled the outfit straight with no assistance from me. So to answer "Broonie" I would say yes fit it. I have not yet discovered why the outfit is less stable with the Beemer than with the Kuga as the X3 is heavier and has a longer wheel base so on paper there should not be an issue. I have taken advice and I will sort the problem. The fact that I'm in a position to do that is largely down to the ATC! If it is practical then fit one.
