Just to let you know that our daughter in law, Emma had a little girl last night: Marcy Eve. All are well, but it was a bit dramatic.

Carol went down to look after Ella (grandaughter 1) at about 10pm. Tom and Emma set off for the hospital at about 10.15pm. Apparently, the baby was born at about 10.30pm in the car somewhere between Polesworth and Nuneaton. Tom had to deliver the baby himself - then they sent for the ambulance. All is fine now. You hear of these things happening but you never expect them to happen to you.

Marcy Eve, 7lb 1oz. Born 13th March in a Nissan Micra!

Congratulations to all. Well done to your son. You have to ask could this have been avoided if hey hadn't sent her home?

Lovely names and weight, a few days this will become a laughing matter and eventually something Marcy will become embarrassed about 😉

I was thinking the same thing myself Alan.  Perhaps all will become clear as we learn more.  My guess is Atherstone, but I haven't had chance to talk to them yet.  laughing

Oh wow that is quite a story - well done Emma and Tom!! Can't imagine how frightening that must have been.

Huge congratulations to you all, such wonderful news and so pleased that all is fine now. Marcy Eve is such a lovely name too (and a good time of year to be born - Sam is 1 next Tuesday). smile

Congratulations David and all the family.  What a lovely photo of your 2 grand-daughters.  What a drama!! Well done to your son. I can't help thinking that it could have been avoided if they hadn't sent your daughter-in-law home yesterday. I am so pleased that everyone is OK. I love her name.

Congrats David. I sincerely hope they didn't break the law and drive without the appropriate baby seat in the car!

Maybe all that back and to helped jog something. Glad all's well that ends well.

Hi wherenext.  No problem with the car seat.  After the birth, the paramedics arrived and Emma and the baby went to hospital in the ambulance.

    Thanks for the congratulations.

    I hope they apologised David.wink

ABM.  I used to work on the reception/ante natal clinic desk at our maternity unit and no it's not entirely unusual for a baby to be born in the back of a car - sometimes in our car park.surprised  We were well practised in sending an alarm call to the delivery suit and getting the porters to rush out with screens to put round the car for some privacy.laughing

Congratulations, and a special well done to your son for, presumably, keeping calm and doing all the right things.

That must have been seriously scary for all involved!

DaveFL: Yes, Lizzie is very much in our thoughts this week.  Anna is also back from uni for a week from tomorrow, so it's turning out to be one of those weeks.
