New Touring Ideas??
Just read about this site which is in New Zealand would it be an idea here for real touring? Probably more likely to appeal to motorhomes but maybe not?

That's different. It should satisfy the wild campers and the site stayers. No doubt some will object to having to use an app, or even to paying at all, but I think it's great. It's something for everyone.

I thought so too. Something for an individual with space or a club to offer. Part of new forward thinking and image 😉.
I read Stuff an online NZ newspaper quite often as daughter lives there but hadn't seen it myself as an article. FB useful sometimes 😆

I can't understand why people aren't prepared to pay for services myself. If you want to freedom camp and not incur site fees fair enough BUT don't expect someone else to pay for water to be piped to a tap or sewage pipes to take away your waste bins for you to put tour rubbish in for you to use for free. If you can invest several thousand in a vehicle to enable you to freedom camp a small fee for facilties is chicken feed by comparison.

There are a lot of "Aires" in NZ where you buy a ticket from a machine. I assume that there are occasional checks to keep people honest. A couple of points for anyone planning to visit, the Aires are not particularly cheap and there is often a public use single toilet which is a complete no-go area for most people due to the smell and lack of cleanliness.

A much better idea than banning freedom camping, most don't mind paying for services or even a small charge for parking. It is not all about not paying anything. With the motorhome Aires on the Continent you are guaranteed hardstanding and a very good chance it is accessible and not osbstucted in any way e.g. by trees. You cannot say that about many a campsite pitch.

I have never had a problem opening the door but agree parking can be pretty close, but if it is only for a few hours or the night, it does not bother me. There are some excellently located ones with views or access to places you would never get on a campsite.
