Ignoring E-Mail Enquiries

As I am busy with work etc during the day it suits me to sit down of an evening and log on to the website to do all our bookings for Club Sites but when a site is affiliated or a CL and doesn't offer online booking I usually send an email (if an address is supplied) asking for availability for my chosen dates as I wouldn't dream of phoning anybody after 9pm. However, I find that in many instances no one bothers to reply the latest culprit being Rutland Caravan and Camping site.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, but the CL hadn't received my mail as the click address hadn't worked correctly so in the end I copied and pasted the e-mail address straight on to my e-mail system and then ask for a receipt.  If that didn't work I picked up the phone during my lunch breakwink

There have been quite a few times when I have given up waiting for cl replies both email and phone messages and booked a main site.  undecided

Some cl owners could do better?

Last time I had a huge delay in response I rang in the end....

The response went something like this :

" Email ? Oh yes our son set that up for us but we don't really use it anymore, people just ring up  ........."

and there you have it. frownyell

If a site doesn't offer online booking then I don't book it. I go to a bit more effort with CLs though wink

i would like to be able to exclude ASs from search results through late availability as they don't show availability and you can't book online.

Edit I meant to say book online without going to the individual website

It's often easier to ring CLs or leave a message on answer phones etc. I've only used Carnon Downs AS and they have a good system for booking enquiries.

I prefer to book my email as it provides me with a record wit the CL. Also, it allows to the CL owner to deal with the query in his/her own time. Too often CL owners have other businesses to run which makes it difficult to contact them during the day.

Fortunately, the six emails requests I've sent were all answered within a day and bookings made by email.

I've stopped using AS sites because it is too time consuming to book. On-line booking systems have sometimes proved problematic.

Pippah. Good thing that you left a space between cl and owners as you might have started a right old rumpus!

Sorry you are having problems with some Cl and AS owners not picking up or returning emails.  Personally, I've not found it a problem on the handful of AS';s we have used, but to be honest, I can't remember the last time I used a CL.  Whenever I email the Club about anything, I usually get a fairly prompt reply (although occasionally there's a 'blip').

The longest I've waited to hear from a CL owner was two weeks, I sent an email, no reply so I phoned. Nice CL, owners just busy doing other things at the time. Luckily it was a holiday planned well in advance so I had time to wait.

Had a problem with a couple of CLs not getting back to me in the past, but recently the response to emails and phone messages has been very good.
