Bladon Chains Caravan site
The site has just opened today and as I will be staying there next week, I just wondered if the grass pitches and hard standing are being used.

Why not ring the warden?

I suggested ringing the wardens because I thought the chances of someone being on site on day one and also being on this forum and reading your post were pretty unlikely.
It's your call.

I didn't think grass pitches were in use this early in the season. I haven't stayed at that particular site, but have stayed at others with grass pitches in March and they were not in use. Given the 2 previous posters had to be towed off it doesn't sound a well drained site, so would have thought that grass pitches this early in the season wouldn't be in use there.
But the only way of a definitive answer would be to ring and ask. That's what I'd do if I wanted to know for sure.

We stayed here twice last year. In May on pitch 44, September on pitch 7. Lovely lush green grass underfoot, just as camping should be
We are adventurers of the new generation.......
.... who tow with really wide tyres on a rear drive diesel automatic, so not the best for grass. But no problems whatever.

We go splish, splash, splosh when trolling in floodwater in the New Forest. The kids love getting muddy, they are inspired new generation adventurers. But that was a commercial site in the days when we had the motorhome before the caravan.
Mrs P did throw her toys when we got bogged down in a marsh, up to my waist in stinky mud, that washed off under the first water tap nearest the access gate en route back to the pitch.
