OK, I know it's sad, but it is my thing that every 2 years to sit down with a marker  pen and mark up all the non EHU sites in the book and on the map. It's a bit of a bind but until, (and believe me, I have asked,) the club shows non EHU sites in a different colour or indeed, any other method they wish to differentiate them from EHU sites, I find it very useful to look at the map and be able to see instantly where the sites are in the area we wish to visit. Now if I remember correctly, the amount of non EHU sites in the previous book was something like 514 - it was definitely around that figure but that's the figure I remember. This book has revealed 476! So nearly 40 lost in two years! Comparing maps, there has also been a " redrawing" of the map where non EHU sites are available - Cornwall for instance is completely different apart from the old faithful. That got me thinking- it must be a nightmare for the dept who do this to keep up with all the potential losses, additions, changes etc going on throughout the network.  I didn't expect such a dramatic loss of non EHU sites but perhaps things will turn around? I'm glad I have a book because the website and app are more or less useless- and please take note of this IT dept! When I mark up  ' No Facilities ' in the app or on the website, why oh why does it bring up sites with EHUs , swimming pools, bars, games room, showers, and goodness knows what else!!? It can't be that hard to make it bring up sites that have NO facilities for us weirdos who don't need or want them. Please, can you get it sorted! Otherwise, in 2 years time, I'll be at this again!,

Merve,  you are under no COMPULSION to use a EHU on any CL you visit.  Just put a black (green?) bag over the bollard if need be.

I suspect we need to do more than mention it on CT to get them to make any changes?  How about formatting a letter with what needs to be done in the book and then getting the rest of us to sign it?  As a relatively new searcher of CLs (I used them a lot in the 70s!) I can't help with the letter but I would sign it.  smile

No Nav, I'm not- that's if I used EHU Cls which I now don't but I would if they reduced the price to suit. They might knock a couple of quid off but that's all and quite frankly its a method of making you pay for something you are never going to use i.e. Hook up. Looks like I'll be getting the highlighter out again. I spoke personally about this problem of having non EHUs in a different colour to Nick Lomas at the same time as I raised the point of the app and website not working when someone was searching for ' no facilities ' and every facility in the world comes up- - nothing, zilch, zero has been done on either score. Now call me cynical but these two failures by the CMHC show absolutely where their priorities lie. If you go non EHU , you can expect no help from the club. You are by yourself! If we were a race, it would be racist!! It's OK Nick- I'll do it myself!

You are not alone marking up your book Merve, although all I do is put a box round those we have used, so they stand out more. I am just grateful at long last to have a book.....

I will systematically go right through the CL section highlighting those with EHU, those that won't allow dogs so as to avoid them, markup all those that have been recommended on CT, and also those that we've visited. We could not do without our Site Directory, for when we're away for 4 wks or more we won't have booked all our ongoing sites and often have no internet signal to be able to search for sites using the club's web site.
