Are you trying to tell us that it's a bit late.

Amazes me what people find to moan about! I don't really care what's on the cover, or inside for that matter, I use the internet. I will put the handbook in the door pocket of the motorhome and that's where it can stay for the next two years until it gets swapped for a new one.

Mine arrived yesterday. I see that the total number of CL's has declined by 82 since the last Handbook. Short of physically counting them, it is difficult to ascertain the decline from the edition prior to that but, judging from the number of pages, I would estimate about 100 so about a 7% contraction over the past four years.
Given the latest issues surrounding CL's, I fear the decline may be even sharper by the time of the next edition.
A few days ago someone posted a link to an alternative "5 van" site network. Needless to say, I cannot find it again on here. Can anyone help?

March has grass ears, as they say in Spain.

Could have saved the club a lot of trouble if they had called the motor home a motor caravan after all they don't call a caravan a caravan home, isn't a home we live in and most members return to after enjoying time enjoying our great pastime?.

Too true. Still have the 2015/2016 handbook, so decided to compare the High Season site fees with the 2017/2018 book - WOW!
Of eight popular sites, the increases ranged from 10.2% to an eye watering 24.5% increase. Shear dismay caused me to cease checking at that point.
Looking at mid-season rates, when we go to France for six weeks using ACSI, we can get the holiday at roughly the same cost including a ferry crossing of about £560. And, at our chosen French site, this includes an all-grass fully serviced pitch with 16amp electricity, pitch size capable of fitting our outfit on it twice over, nicely hedged on three sides, and a decent swimming pool. Cannot see how the C.C. (sorry, C&MHC) can justify their pitch fees.

What an excellent idea - maybe the site fees might go down a little then (& pigs might fly)

Aren't those percentage increases over two years, not one?
We all know you can't compare UK site fees with those charged abroad because their whole financial structure, tax regime etc is different overseas.

Not quite true. necessary increases are generally due to inflation - problem with rip-off UK is that high inflation always gets the blame for steep increases, but low inflation isn't so widely appreciated. a 5% increase would have been sufficient for the Club, and fairer to its members.
York has two C.C. sites, Beechwood Grange 24.45% increase and Rowntree Park 14.33% increase. So it isn't likely to be council driven increases, is it?
Watch out for further increases in membership subscriptions!!!

Having read most of the comments regarding the new front cover. My point is this ( I tow a caravan ) I went to the Bognor regis club site about 18 months .I went to book in and the poor warden was having to deal with a foul motor home owner who was complaining they should have first pick of hardstandings due to their type of vechicle. (a) the abuse was not needed (b) its first come first serve we should all be equal in this club.

There is Never, Ever any excuse for being rude or impolite to anybody, be they shop assistants, site wardens, or anybody else who is placed in a position of having to serve us. They have the same rights to have bad days, good days etc as the rest of us and anybody abusing them deserves short shrift from folks standing by.

If I had been the warden I would have recommended that the motorhomer joined the C&CC when he would be able to select an option for hard standing.
I have no desire to forego a hardstanding pitch so that another member may have it - except if it needed for somebody with mobility issues or other medical conditions that needs to be located in a particular area of the site.

Nice one EasyT - I suppose it must be frustrating not to have a hard standing if you need it - for a precious motor home but rules is rules! As you say the C&CC would accommodate the problem.
I agree ABM no excuse - not that I haven't lost my calm with the likes of nPower etc - but never come close to it with campsites. One strategy for the real menaces is to calmly ask them how they would feel if they were in my shoes? - it works wonders.

I fear that now we have become a motorhome club there will be a widespread expectation that hard standings are there for motorhomes and the trailer caravan and motor caravan people can have the grass/mud/desert [delete as applicable according to season].
