Black Knowl
Just tried booking Black Knowl 1/3/2017 by the Web Site and couldnt even though I had rung yesterday and told bookings where being taken from todayt 0815. No luck.
Rang CC at 0845 and put on hold until 0903 and informed no bookings where being taken and ring back in about a week
What a shambolic way to run the club and very poor customer relations.
I have always read the club is here for its members run by members, I dont remember reading anything about the name change or any consultation.
Like I say, what a shambolic way to run a member lead organisation.

Why does that not suprise that the "information" given out by the club does not match the real life situations, its been happening more and more with most things, from EGH ,I think the staff at the call centre on the front line of these none events have really earned their award for customer service with what they must get because of poor management of events

Black Knowl is undergoing redevelopment, says so quite clearly on the web page, not due to reopen until July. So not quite the mix up the OP indicates, perhaps just the Club being pro active in this instance and making sure work is on schedule?
Quite why they have so many closed for redevelopment at the same time is a bit of a mystery, but then again always lots of moans about Club not improving sites, so hey ho, this time members have got what they moaned about! Life goes on!

it says quite clearly (takethe dogalong)that the site is taking bookings from 1/3/2017, hence the booking attempt.( See the caravan magazine)
I am fully aware it is being redeveoped.
But if one has to book with employers time off etc I cant wait for ever.

We were told back in December by the then Caravan Club we could make bookings from 1 March, we too have tried to book this site for Aug and Oct but unable to do so.
Can somebody now please tell us all when we can book BK for this year?

Can somebody please move this post to club sites.

I have just found out that Black Knowl is due to open on 28/7/2017
having been told is was to open on 30/6/2017.
I have delayed booking my July holiday slot for Black Knowl and now have missed the boat since prime slots have been taken at other sites.
Like I said in my original post. Shambolic.
The CC have now missed the main booking season. Yes i accept they are in the hands of the contractors but who is managing these contractors. Is there a penalty clause.
My holiday at Black Knowl has been ruined by incompetance.
Will i renew in June at £49.
I am only a member for Black Knowl since its members only
As you can see I am far from satisfied and will follow this up with a formal complaint. Yes I know I am waisting my time.
Oh and yes you have lost the bookings for the New Forest Show.
Incompetant

To repeat my earlier question could the powers that be please advise when we will be able to make bookings for BK, or is the opening date likely to drift further to the right, a bit like the improvements to Black Horse Farm last year which seemed to go on forever.

Hi Everybody,
I apologise for not replying sooner but we have been our phone lines which have been very busy and making bookings etc for Members.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen last minute redevelopment delays we had to delay the sale of pitches.
We are now happy to confirm a new sale date has been agreed of Tuesday 7th March from 9am – for arrivals starting Friday 28th July. A message will be on the website today.
Best Wishes
Tracy

i dont want to point the finger at anyone but I just dont understand it.
I cannot accept that at 0845 today 1/3/2017 you find out that owing to redevelopement issues the date has been put back to 28/7/2017.
Dont you realise people make commitments and expect them to be honoured.
Dont you have someone managing the development. I m fairly convinced the caravan club have let members down and perhaps you have been too busy on the rebranding exercise.
Not good enough

I think that previously the site did say open in July - not when, they have at least updated info.
Bookings for Black Knowl can be made from 9am, Tuesday 7 March. The site is currently closed for redevelopments and due to reopen 28 July 2017. If you're looking to book a holiday in this area prior to the 28 July, why not stay at one of our great alternative sites nearby; Rookesbury Park, Morn Hill, Haycraft, New Forest Centenary.

If it's a better site than Black Knowle it doesn't say a lot for it as Setthorns isn't that good of a site IMO. However Setthorns isn't like a car park as most CC sites are, I'll give it that.

I am incredulous that the Club can be so disorganized and seemingly unaware of membership needs that they have failed to keep us updated as to the possibility / probability of a delayed opening date post site re-development.
That the stated booking date of 1st March came and went without explanation as to why bookings were not being accepted is in itself a disgrace but now today [2nd March] to be told that site opening is to be delayed by 4 weeks just adds insult to injury. More so from my perspective - when I 'phoned yesterday I was told that booking would now not open until the 7th March and that there was no information to suggest that site opening would change from the 1st July. I specifically asked the question and that was the answer I received.
Many members like myself will have planned their uk touring around a Black Knowl stay based upon the original [and clear] re-opening date and to be told now without preamble that this is delayed is nothing short of shambolic. I have been a member for over 35 years and I take great exception to the failure to communicate. The possibility of a delayed opening must have been known about weeks if not months ago and a simple note on the website flagging this up would have allowed members to make alternative arrangements in good time to make bookings elsewhere. I have today tried to book a pitch at two non Club sites as a result of the delayed opening without success as they both are fully booked.
Whoever is responsible for this failure to communicate should take a long hard look at the way members needs are perceived and take the appropriate action to avoid a repetition

The modern management parlais applies:
'We know best, we have a degree, you irks no nothing'.
It must surely be as clear as the nose on your face that 'customer service' in respect of the CC / camc wotever has passed the upper echelons at grimstead towers, bye.
The oldie world pre diversity parlais was 'mushrooms, keep them in the dark feed them sh1t'.
Happy camping

Members have been crying out for Black Knowl to be redeveloped and at long last the Club have been able to buy the land and spend unknown hundreds of thousands on its long overdue redevelopment. This site is notorious for being very wet which I imagine does not help that redevelopment and I expect makes keeping to precise opening times more difficult. I appreciate that it is frustrating but I think we need to look beyond the current difficulties and try an appreciate what the site will be like in coming years.

I am one of those that have been "crying out". The site is unique and it was a good thing that the Club was able to buy the freehold and carry out the much needed redevelopment.
My complaint and annoyance is not about the delayed opening - that happens - it's the failure to communicate in a timely manner. It holds the membership in contempt - not worthy of updating about the change to "booking opening" date until that date arrived and the complaints started to roll in - or that the opening date was likely to slip which has almost certainly been known about for some time. It's unforgivably and a disgrace. If I sound really annoyed its only because I really am.
