If the land is not there to purchase then there is not a lot they can do. They only go for prime locations or AONB - that makes me rather pleased they find it hard to acquire sites as they end up being a blight on the landscape!!! CLs on the other hand.........

People might be interested in DSB's post in this thread with regard to sites in Essex.

Do you think the opposition was due to ignorance, that is maybe the protesters thought it was for a Travellers site, bearing in mind the trouble they had in essex with regard to the one that was recently demolished? Caravan sites are hardly non existent in Essex, just CC, sorry CMC, ones.
Maybe the club could go on a Charm Offensive in Essex to prove to them how much money a club will bring to the local economy. We've been told that the residents in Bristol appreciated the boost to the economy that Baltic Wharf site generates.

I do hope that comment was made tongue in cheek?
We have a very diverse county with the if not longest, one of the longest, coastlines that include cliffs through to mud flats. Cities through to undulating green countryside, history, easy access to London should you require it. The largest island in the country you can reach by land. I could go on........ 😉
Please note I am a girl from Essex NOT an Essex girl 😂😂😃😃😆😆
There are decent CL'syou can use to explore our beautiful county.

I live in a rural part of Essex on the River Blackwater estuary there may not be a Carvan club site within the county but a good number of lovely CL'S , it part of the reason I moved to the area , I moved around 45 miles from the Thurrock Lakeside area after staying at Cls in rural Essex .
Farm sites, in area's inc Maldon , Burnham on Crouch , little Baddow , Dunnow , Manningtree to name a few , iam sure there are sites to suit all .

The C&CC franchise site at Polstead may be over the border in Suffolk but we used it to tour a fair bit of the area. It's a decent site and had free wifi that worked too.

I wouldn't mind betting that the Club would be interested in opening a site in Essex if only they could find a suitable venue. According to the comments the Chairman made at the Central Region Question Time last Saturday, they have certainly tried.

"He confirmed how difficult it was and quoted one example when the Club thought it had found a suitable site in Essex. When they went to look at the land they had to have a police escort because of the strength of feeling from local residents. Needless to say, the Club withdrew the idea."
If this is referring to the proposed site at Ardleigh Reservoir back in 2010 then that’s the first I’ve heard about police escorts. I live in the area and nothing like it was reported. Indeed this proposal had got as far as putting in a Planning Application – not something you would do if you’d been unable to see the land because of local opposition.
There was doubt expressed by the local council but mainly I believe because of not understanding the quality of a Club Site development.
I wrote to the Club sites development manager suggesting that a coach trip be laid on to show the Councillors what a typical Club Site looked like.
I don’t know what he thought of that idea because I never had a reply.

I must admit I wondered where the possible site was to be that required a police escorts. There is certainly one area where 'caravanners' are problematic but that is nowhere near where you are suggesting. What a bizarre thing to say. No wonder Essex gets some stick.
Please folks come and pay us a visit there's plenty of CL's in the county and loads to see and do. Not to mention one of the driest areas in the country, tonight excepted. In fact the other club have a site in Essex and just over the border in Suffolk, another great county.
