Hi, was wondering if anyone else tows with a sports car. I bought a pop top to go to shows in, coz sleeping in a tent wasn't fun, to mine and my wife's surprise we really enjoyed it. We now have joined the club and are looking forward to spending time away on caravaning holidays. I was wondering if there are any other sports car caravaners.

I started towing with a Sunbeam Alpine many many moons ago - and I am fairly sure it wouldn't have come within the 85% guidelines as first caravan was a Sprite Muskateer surprised

However many happy memories were made with that outfit in France, Germany and Italy!  Then children came along etc etc - so I needed something a bit more spacious for me and the dogs now!  Enjoy.

Love the Cobra! Good for you, we were similar, tented for years with our MG, but we had an old Landy as well, so changed to caravan. We did tow it with MG one Summer, all way down to Cornwall, including over Dartmoor. We practically had to do a Freddy Flintstone pedal up Haldon Hill in Devon, but made it. Once on site, it was fantastic having the MG down there and the comfort of the van, but we paid for it later. OH had to change clutch.

So we did something different, we have a 4.0 litre Petrol Wrangler, drop hood, goes like a banshee, tows like a train, and great fun when unhooked as we off road along a lot of the coastal green lanes down there now, as well as on the moors. Brilliant for our dogs as well, MG was far too tight with three Airedales!

I bet you get some looks though towing your van! Enjoy!cool

Loving the Cobra but, somehow, putting a towbar on it seems very wrong. Is it a removable one?

Towed all over Europe with a succession of MG Midgets and a TR7 convertible many years ago, great fun. The trouble is not many modern two seat convertibles are type approved for towing.

Two adults and three dogs was too much for MG! We did manage with two, one on bench seat behind, one in footwell digging elbows into my thighs for 350 miles! You have a lot of power there as well. Brilliant!

Is that a chocolate Lab? We have two Labs now, huge great things!smile

Over the years I have seen a few, the Stag used to be popular and we have a centre member who tows with one now.

The Stag V8 sounds great, something I miss with my own V8 as a diesel does not sound as good as a petrol.
