The same Club, just better...

The Caravan Club was 110 years old with a lot of history and over the years an awful lot of members, but it no longer exists! It is now The Caravan and Motorhome Club which is 3 days old therefore it is starting all over again.
Is the "Club" a club or a business, it is about time the executive told us that it is either one or the other. I say this because obviously the executive don't consider us as members, but customers and surely if we are members, they should have had the decency to consult the membership about the changes and given us the chance to say yea or nay.

Well the rebranding sems to be going down like a lead balloon, my new club badges came in the post today Not impressed they are now in the recycling bin after watching the video still do not see the thoughts involved. What a waste of money?

There have been some posts claiming that the vast majority of posters on this thread who are against the change of name, the change of logo or the vast amount of money that must have been wasted on the exercise do not represent the feelings of the majority of the membership as a whole. No they don't but the fact that there are far more posters against the change than are for it must say an awful lot and so statistically, they must represent the views of the whole membership. It is just the same as for political elections. There may only be a small turnout but those that get the most votes by those voters that are bothered to make representations by marking a cross on a ballot paper win the seat, or in this case, the view that it has been a very ill-conceived idea.
My own view is that the amount spent on the rebrand should have been used making what we have got more fit for purpose, this pathetic website for one. You can only spend the money once.
What saddens me is that neither the Chairman nor Director General have the good grace to come onto this forum to explain personally why they considered it to be such a good idea to be profligate with the Caravan Club's funds. Perhaps it is because they know that they have shot themselves in the foot and cannot defend the indefensible. I feel sorry for Rochelle who has to toe the party line and act as the mouthpiece and reply to just a few of the vast number of complaints about the issue but using what really appears to be stock replies .
Companies or clubs wanting to expand should do so by evolution, not revolution and, in my eyes, this is now a revolution gone badly wrong.
Let me say finally, I am certainly not anti motorhome / motor caravan(whatever one might like to call it) to me, we are all just fellow members of the same caravan club with different types of caravans.

Nearly put my letter in the bin as I thought it was junk mail.
such a badly composed letter, didn't even mention the Caravan club.
Had to log on here to check the facts!

Catchy brand names...AA, RAC, BT, Apple, Windows, Tesco, Asda, Lidl, Aldi, Saga, Boots, Oxfam, ....are all short and sweet.
But Caravan and Motorhome Club is a clunky mouthful. Mistake.

Well....now I'm joining the ranks of the miffed......
Somewhere a million posts back someone complained their app was now newly logo'd up and was now a camc app on their iPhone. So I rushed over to play store to update my app, it's there showing all nice and shiney, new but won't update on my android, I'm still stuck with the cc app. I wasn't going to bother with the show this time but I'm going down to brum to complain tomorrow now

Why, thankyou, K&M.
One does appreciate such comments from one's fellow members.

Bura, I have never experienced anti-MH comments prior to the advent of this thread. I'm shocked but it will not affect me one iota.

Eh? AA, RAC, BT and ASDA are abbreviations
Oxfam is the accepted shortened name representing the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief
Not the best examples to back up your theory

At the risk of repeating myself...
The membership are not the owners of the Club, the Club has no ownership, it is a managed not for profit organisation and no one person is entitled to any share of the profit or dividends.
We are paid up members of a membership organisation and we sign up to the by-laws of this organisation when we join. Within the by-laws it will state that operational decisions are the sole responsibility of the elected governing committee.

You mean like the new logo, HD?

Rochelle
Please can you tell me whether as a member of the Caravan Club I have the right to see the Committee report and minutes in respect of the decision to change the name of the Caravan Club? I feel very annoyed that the name has been changed and am hoping that having sight of the report will help to explain how and why the Committee arrived at their decision.

Sky, Uber, Google, Facebook, Shell, Esso, Starbucks, Costa, Airbnb......or Caravan and Motorhome Club.
2 -
Royal Society for the Protection of Birds
National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Business and Professional Women's Club
Royal Air Force Association
Society of Wedding and Professional Photographers
I could go on...
The Club doesn't need a catchy short business name, it merely explains what it represents

It's pointless to go around in circles over this, the Club has been renamed, it won't be changed back.

I agree Husky,
Whats done is done, there`s is nothing anyone can do, the management have made their decisions, some of you may not like or do not agree with it, but its done and dusted.
Live with it,
Embrace it,
Deal with it,
Accept it,
Hate it,
Don`t accept it,
Refuse it,
Caravan and Motorhome Club is here.
What real difference is it going to make to us as indivuals?
Nothin.
You`ll still go to club sites
You`ll still enjoy being in your preferred leisure vehicle
You may moan for ever more about how you were treated
But you will still take the discounts
And you will still post on here.
You may even take the extreme road and cancel your membership, thats your choice.
But this rebranded club will still be here, with thousands of members.
Thats life
Be well
