About logos, l worked for that good old company ICI until its breakup, they had the old logo changed at cost of a £1million back then The old logo was the roundel with ICI in the middle with wavy lines underneath, the wavy lines representing the rough crossing when ICI was formed. Guess what they did to change the logo, they straitened the wavy lines, it was supose to represent a smoother road a head took a lot of thinking about didn't it, may be that's why they had to demerge wasting the shareholders money. Hope the same thing don't happen to our Club

What it does show is contempt for the membership by telling them nowt about this and many other factors that have a direct impact on them. Despite being asked a number of times on this thread set up by Rochelle on behalf of the management we have had no statement regarding the Mildenhall site. No word about the new AS that is already on the website. We were made to wait for the new handbook and map with the true reason why being concealed.
Mushrooms see more light!!

- It is less significant than the new logo. At least the new logo conveys the Clubs initials. While the red flag is well known inside camping circles now, it will be but a distant memory in a year and the new one will become just as well known.

As a long time club member, formerly as a caravanner and recently as a motorhomer, I'm on the whole in favour of the name change, it is simply a formal recognition of what is happening - that an increasing proportion of members, new and continuing, are choosing to use motorhomes.
I'm not too concerned about the cost, undoubtedly there will be one, but on the whole the Club is run in a financially responsible way so I don't expect any significant impact on other areas. Whatever the cost turns out to be I doubt it will amount to more than a fraction of reserves.
What I do not like is the new logo, which looks more appropriate for a gas boiler maintenance busines than an "outdoor adventure" organisation.
And what I like even less is the downright glib and patronising language used to explain and justify the rebrand to the membership.

One thing that has occurred to me is in this push to be more MH friendly is the fact that we are hearing that MHomers are always keen to 'wild camp', presumably embracing the 'adventure' and 'pioneer' aspect. Is this rebranding really going to attract the 'new breed' of campers? ISTM that the Club hasn't got anything that they want.

Good post David.
The important thing now is that the CMC improves their image, improves their IT standards and improves their communications generally.
Most important of all we need site improvements and expansion.
When all this has died down will all those who complain lobby the club for these things, attend meetings, etc? Or do they expect someone else to do it for them? If they do expect someone else to do the work they will have to accept in good faith that decisions like the new logo and brand will be made on their behalf.

So I wonder when the title club will be removed? Our Club seems to be running more like a bussiness every year, maybe we should all become shareholders. Such a monumental change should have been voted on by all. So many changes so few discussions priority pitches for motor homes, when caravans cannot book particular pitches. Introduction of tents on many pitches which has brought its own problems and now a rebranding that will run into astronomical figures. Out of interest how many on the committee own motorhomes versus those that own caravans? I'm not impressed.

And on a scale of one to ten how likely? Did it need a logo change to achieve that?

I have just had my second item posted this week. First the plastic stickers, and now the magazine. why couldn't they be in the same envelope? Still no sign of the handbook!
I think this is the second bad decision in recent times. The magazine delivered today is awful. Over half of it is adverts, and the new type face and design make it difficult to read.
Thankfully, the sites and staff are still excellent, but I think the direction from above is sadly lacking.

Hi Dave,
The feedback was gathered from multiple surveys over the years, where members told us that they felt the Club was stuffy, old-fashioned and strict. With this rebrand we are hoping to change that image.
The cost has been planned and budgeted in advance. It is being met from normal trading expenses. The amount is affordable, as it represents a tiny fraction of the Club’s turnover and will not impact any of the Club’s plans for investment in sites or club services. Many of the costs are in consumable items such as uniforms, signage and so on which need replacing on an ongoing basis in any case. We have delayed the launch of the sites directory and handbook (which will be distributed this month) for example to make sure that this has the new branding for all of its two year life and so there has been no extra costs incurred. We expect that the new brand will generate a higher profile and increased interest for the Club which will improve membership recruitment and retention and increase usage of club services so that the Club is even more successful in the future than it is now.

How will a rebrand and name change alter the well founded image without actually making changes to reasons why the club(?) is seen as stuffy, old-fashioned and strict.
I have shown this to my sons and their families and they see nothing that would attract them to join.

Cheers Rochelle
Right, can we move on now, lifes to short as there are holidays to be enjoyed by Caravanners and Motorhomers of which are now equal status, although in my eyes they were before.
Next week it will all be forgotten and we will be back to nit picking each others posts
By the way, my family wouldn't join before or after, for some it's not their calling.
Oh and the Sites book has just been delivered with a spanking new logo

I see little point in this thread continuing. After over 1100 posts, I think the hierarchy should have got the message by now (if anyone there is actually reading the thread), that members aren't happy. Not that anything will make them return to the old name or logo. Lets move on, the new season is upon us, lets get planning our trips and enjoy the pastime. (might be nice though to actually receive the new book, no sign of it here yet).

Before even considering a re-brand of any kind the club should have made sure that it had 'all its ducks in a row'.
First thing should have been to sort out communication with the membership which seems P poor. Even my Electricity supplier NPower does a better job. Not sure how good the communication is with CL owners ............ I have my doubts.
Sorting out the 10 week old New website should have been done first as well. No doubt that will be sorted ..... soon(ish). Edited to add that I am not from Clwyd which no longer exists I am from Flintshire. Yes I have changed it umpteen times.
Inspire - Simplify - Pioneer - and last but not least Inclusive .... Yeah right!!

Right then, we can see this in different ways ,we can either throw our toys out the pram ,send our stickers back and act like a spoilt child who didn't get their way ,OR we can accept it ,move on and look to organise our holidays and look forward to adventures
I am going to do the latter
For those who are not aware ,but there are other clubs and sites out there

Nowt to do with throwing toys out of prams Husky as I am sure you realise. More to do with highlighting the communication failures and lack of engagement from the club that they seem to prefer to gloss over with glib words rather than addressing.

But ET they did communicate it all, there was a big unveiling at the NEC, it was streamed on FB, we got a letter thru the post, what more do you want a personal carrier pigeon?
We have now got the handbook (obvioulsy waiting for the name change before sending) that your life was so ruined as you had not got it.
So the daffodils are out summer is on the way so lets move on and enjoy.
The only gripe I do have with the change is the announcement of more overseas holidays, not sure they should be taking on Thomas Cook or Thomsons! Also on the FB page they are listed as travel agents!!
