I think we're just coming to the end of the worst bit Ruby, lots of stuff flying around. Will have to go and tidy up later. Glad you got to your van in time!

Think we are at or near its peak. Huge roaring like a train or wave on the way before the gust hits. Trees blown and whipped like matchsticks and we live in the town. Conservatory creaking like crazy. Driving back from hairdressers along town dual carriageway large gust whipped up and swirled a lot of leaves before it "stood' them upright close to the road surface and marched them at great speed across the carriageway. Quite amazing! Plenty of large twigs lying around but denifinitely worse now. We've had a fence panel pop out.

    Stay safe folks.

Good news on your awning rubytuesday. Are you away or is it on a pitch?

Bit wet and wild here, but nothing major as yet - although high sided vehicles still using the Humber Bridge despite the warnings!   Not that long ago since a wagon was almost blown off the bridge in similar conditions.

    QE2 bridge closed.

It amazes me that professional drivers don't heed warnings. 😯 seems like thought of hurting/killing themselves or other unheeded let alone chaos it causes. I expect police to busy but I do hope they can be identified and fined. I think the lorry driver who closed the Forth Road Bridge got or is being prosecuted one assumes future employers won't touch them for driving again.

Just been out to the shed as I went to come out door whipped from my hand and forced back violently.  Wrenched one screw out of hinge completely and bent two of the three hinges. Good job hubby on hand. Once he'd grabbed hammer I held whilst he walked hinges back and door could be closed. He's risking it again to return paint and cleanse brush 😉

Storm Doris has done it's bit here too. We've got a fence panel down in our back garden  and we have a tree down at church Polesworth Abbey (see below.

It seems to be a little calmer now though, so I'm hoping Doris is moving away now..

Just got back from the NEC.  Started out at 09:00 and the weather was awful, raining and very gusty winds.  On M6 at around J13, a tree had fallen onto the north bound side, but other than that, not too bad a drive.  Coming back though was a nightmare (left about 15:00).  Not bad until we hit J10 and that's where the queues started.  This was the same queue for the tree that had fallen across the lanes.  What really got my goat was that the tree had been cleared, the cones were still out (they had shut down 2 lanes), and the blokes were standing about on their phones.  (It was like this until we heard the last message before turning off the radio at 18:00 when we had got home).  We left the M6 at J17 as it was hard going from J18 to J19 apparently, and the motorway was closed at Thelwall to stop traffic going over the bridge.  So we went via Holmes Chapel and Knutsford, and there was plenty of trees that had come down, but thankfully, didn't affect the traffic.

    We weren't affected at all.

No wind, just a bit rain.

Looks like its been mainly in the south where the problems occurred.

One poor woman lost her life after being hit by a massive piece of wood which broke free from a shop roof.

On  the  news  tonight  I  saw  one  of  the  trees  that  had  fallen  onto a  car,  Bugs.  It  appeared  to  have  sheared  off  at  ground  level  not  taken  any  root  out  at  all.

It  would  appear  an  energetic  Jack  Russell  having  a  wee  could  have  taken  it  down --  just  another  rotten  tree  waiting  to  drop frown

Certainly  it  seems  that  it  is  a  good  thing  that  the  trees  etc  are  not  in  full  leaf  or  this  Doris  would  have  caused  even  more  Mayhem  Blooming  Wimmin  sealed  !!

Further reports seem to suggest that a woman lost her life when she was struck by a chair coming off a roof garden, near Costa and M&S in the midlands somewhere.

If you have adequate warning of such events as Doris, do you not secure all outside tables and chairs?

I find it odd that someone would leave an awning up on the van after seeing all the warnings about the storm. #commonsense

Many on our site actually stay the full 11mths inside there awnings they look like large living rooms , also many don't live near and obviously could'nt get there ,

when putting there awnings up they prepare as best they can with the right heavy metal pegs ect , which more than hold in heavy storm winds , but Doris was an exception surprised the wardens on site also go above and beyond to help out ,

those on site touring obviously took them down or didn't put them up

We were there in our van on Thursday. Bit windy but did not see any real damage. THe site was fairly sheltered. Yes windy (94mph)and very wet. Can recall  worst conditions above Loch Tollie by  Gairloch  two years ago. Just been fishing and wilding on the exposed tops. That was scary.
