So the re-branding has burst upon us and new signs were up at Moreton in March club site on the launch day (21 Feb 17)

Very unhappy with the new roadside sign for CLs. Club doing its best to make CLs invisible?

What do other members think?

If you could project it into the night sky, it would look like Gotham city is in trouble followed by the imminent arrival of Batman.

Just leave the CC one up as well.  Are the Caravan Club paying the bill for replacing the signs or do you have to?

Feeling among CL owners I have heard from is that the Red Pennant was so much more visible and easy to spot on the roadside that they are not going to remove them.

Also heard a rumour the Club are going to insist on the old ones being posted back - idiots with money to burn?

All rebranding is difficult to get established,  and it has been interesting to recently see Keep Britian Tidy actually BRING BACK their Tidy Man logo...who knew it had left? Personally I thought the organisation had just closed after not seeing/hearing from them for a decade!

My main issue with that image shown is that the design isn't making the most of the space, if you want to be seens you have to at least fill the page.

I am increasingly concerned that this is thenCaravan Club distancing itself from CLS. More members are going to CLs and the main club sites are very expensive and have such ridiculous rules.......we couldnt go next to a friend last year at Carsington as the peg was the wrong colour - we ended up 5 mins walk away (not a problem) but the pitch we wanted was vacant all weekend. NEVER AGAIN.

Could be a sad demise for cls but luckliy there are loads of free/cheap other websites to advertise on which I am actively starting to update.

In what respect was it the wrong colour?

White big enough to take an awning as per fire spacing rules

Blue not big enough to take an awning as per fire spacing rules

did you book an awning pitch?

I wonder if any / many CLs will change their allegiance and become a CSs with the C&CC. They may not want to change their signage from the well recognised CC signs but it seems that they are having the sign change forced upon them which could seriously affect their business. I have stayed at several CLs that I have first seen whilst travelling about, the well recognised sign alerting us to the fact that the farm, (for example), has a CL. I don't think the new sign will have anything like the same visual impact on the passing motorist.

I think we should start a competition to see when and if anyone spots a new sign.

If thats what the new CL sign looks like we are not impressed, very drab brown coloured logo and not very clear what it is at all?.  Still waiting for ours to arrive?   In fact it was such a great supprise when the club annouced this change without letting us know in advance.  Not pleased as we have just spent over £500 on printing 15,000 leaflets to advertise our CL site.  They arrived today and were intended to last us for the next 4 years.  All rubbish now as the logo is wrong and the club has changed its name so they are all now inaccurate!!!!   Why hasn't the CC told us in advance of there palns to change the name it has cost us all this money by thenm being totally selfish and keeping the change secret.  I was actually talking to the CL office on Monday this week and still no mention.  What are other CL owners views?  Rob Folwell owner of Greetham Retreat CL   www.greethamretreat.co.uk/touring-caravans

I contacted the CL Dept with some queries on the announcement plus expressed that I was disappointed with the sign and that it would be hidden on a hedge, fence or trees and was advised that it was designed to reflect the great outdoors due to the seasonal warm and earthy tones and the green and blues to represent forest and water.( Where they are I do not know ).  There will be many CL Owners who I think may create their own signage as they will be frightened of not being noticed after all we cannot put up large signs as are used on the entrance to caravan sites where maybe this logo is easily seen.

I'm beginning to suspect that it is a clandestine plan to erode the CL network in favour of more profitable income streams. Time to research what the C&CC have to offer.

It's a rather shy sort of sign. If I didn't know about the change I would think it an advert for cattle branding or a wild west show. Perhaps a day-glow yellow background would help.

Sounds like an error on the CC admins crib sheet to me. Only colours I see are muddy ones representative perhaps of overused grass pitches?

I welcome the change in Club name to embrace motorhomers but the proposed roadside signs for CL entrances are inadequate.

If we as CL Owners create our own signage (which would be a practical way to cope with the transition), this would probably result in many localised variations which would defeat the object of national Club brand identity.

It would be better if the Club gives CL Owners useful signs that spell-out the link between the old and new clubs.

That was my thought as well brue, and the "members only" as well.

A lot of CL we use have extra signage stating name of property, even if they don't trumpet the CL status, so members will still find them. Might be a problem for a few though if neighbours are touchy about signs.

I think the signage regarding who can use the site should be clear. Especially on CLs with absent owners.

A bit like this one for a CL website due to open this year you mean. Note the small text around the 5 saying caravans, trailer tents, motorhomes

Well done, I like that it's a good design, nice and clear.

Put it forward to H.O. for adoption. wink
