The same Club, just better...

Maybe it should have been re-branded as the Intrepid Explorers Club??
Granville says ''We don't know yet what the next generation of explorers will look like, but we'll be ready for them."
Nick Lomas Director General says ''now it's time to get ready for the next generation of explorers.''
The Director of Marketing says ''We want to encourage more explorers, adventurers and pioneers to join us''

This consultation did it actually mention rebranding. Did it for instance or example have question like. We are thinking of changing our name what do you think?
Didnt think so.
On a practical note we have over 100 cheques all made out to the caravan club, it seems like only yesterday that was the name, are the going to affected. I am sure it has thoroughly thought through. What the impact on the exemption certificate?

This is all lead by management looking to put their stamp on the club who all have a marketing background and therefore know little else.
Anyone remember British Airways replacing their iconic speedbird logo with flags of the world?
The main issue to me is the number of sites in summer fully booked for Saturday night only with mid week availability. This restricts families who can't get leave approved until the start of the year from booking a week at a site.
as we are retired it doesn't trouble us too much but I feel short break bookings could/should be restricted for a few weeks when bookings open to allow better utilisation of sites

Hi Boff,
The Executive Committee were fully involved in the decision and the project, and are fully on board with this change.
We're still trading under The Caravan Club name, so you won't need to change your cheques

So that was the "new and exciting" announcement?
I'm trying to remember the Shakespeare play that summed it up. Oh yes, i remember now - "Much ado about nothing"

I'm sure all the campers with tents will be delighted at our new branding?!!
Perhaps they could rebrand us again and call it the 'Us and Them Club' and waste some more money instead of actually listening to the members and taking note of their needs and wants??
Will this new generation of explorers (whatever they look like!) have some manners, be able to converse with fellow explorers and 'clean the bowl' after themselves?? Hope so.

For those of you that missed the live announce on Facebook from the NEC, I've posted the video in my opening comment

The last time there was this much excitement, our Grenville wrecked his van with a spell of off roading... what did he say in the video? "Health and Safety would have a field day"
Well you would know our Grenville!

Watched live on fb. Where are these people the club is looking to recruit going to stay? Why spend money on updating facilities when in the same speech you refer to outside toilets and not much in the van. That isn't how it is now...... Having said that we will use facilities on offer. But space to pitch and sites to pitch on would be more usueful

To be fair, organisations don't ask customers prior to a rebrand. I rebranded my company last year, I didn't ask my customers if they were ok with this, I just did it.
Get real!

I feel a freedom of information request coming on........

Basically I just don't care, as long as I can holiday in my 'van', book some sites etc then they can call it what they like, when they like and as often as they like. Their provision of service falls short at the moment but I muddle through and nothing has held me up with this years outings. Unfortunately this problematic website has affected CL's more than anyone and that is what should have been the priority.
CT is a tool I use for passing time and can be any colour of the rainbow ................ just roll on the better weather.

Just watched the opening few minutes of the video again.
One thing is apparent, Tim Cook and Apple have nothing to worry about have they?
When Jobs (god rest his soul) announced the iPhone, there was nearly a riot in the theatre. Our Grenville announces the new name for the club... muted applause (I suspect only from the motorhomers in the audience)
Whilst I hope the Club succeeds in it's new direction (lets face it, the Club does need to get away from it's 'only open to the retired" stigma), any future presentations could do with being a lot more upbeat, if the Club wants to appeal to a new generation, it's communications people need a rocket up their back side!!!!

None, but if you still believe the CAMC (as it's now known) is a "club" in the twee true sense of the word and not a commercial business then yes, a rebrand isn't for you.
After rebranding, I picked up a lot more new customers. It works.

Sorry , but i dont like this new Logo. Having worked with many marketing companies in the years gone by i know this will not of been cheap and the new re-branding of all the sites , uniforms , stationary , web design, cl locations , pubicity adverts. OMG how much of the clubs money has just been spent. If this had been spent on site improvements or even a site fee reduction ... now that would bring more members into the fold .. if i look to join or go somewhere i dont think mmmmm thats an inviting logo i look at the services / facilities and read the feedback. i have seen some of the remarks on Facebook already this morning and alot are feeling the same way.... on the consultation with its members when was this .... are we talking a small paragraph near the end on the magazine.....

Working for a large company, I've seen many logo changes over the years and all for the good. It's reminding the world that the organisation is thinking ahead, making itself more attractive to new-comers, keeping up with the times. Yes of course there's a cost to these things but relatively less if we were still back in the post-web days. Yes you're going to get disgruntled people, but as with any change, there's always resistance. Some people just don't like change.
Me, I love it. The thought that's gone into the new logo is brill. I you haven't watched the video on the background of the logo, do so.
Well done Caravan Club, or should I say Caravan and Motorhome Club, for taking the plunge.
