Don't dismiss all commercial sites though. One of our favourites is the Glen Nevis Touring Park, Fort William. The Club have a site at Bunree overlooking Loch Linnhe, but we prefer the Glen Nevis site because of it's location. It's 3 miles walk from Fort William. Generally good walking all round the glen, including of course, Ben Nevis. It is an extremely well run site. No club house or any such "Butlin" activities here. Lovely restaurant/bar within 200 yds. Also a café and bike hire shop too.

Scotland is a big place. Can you be a bit more specific, please, and have you checked out the CC sites and other threads in this section for ideas?

As TW says there is a gi-normous country ( by British
standards ) up there with rather less roads than we
are used to ! so you need to approach the place in
a regulated manner :--
1) you are going on HOLIDAY, do not try to
get to John O'Groats by tea time on the first day
2) are you looking for/at buildings ? Mountains ?
Wild life ? Cities ?
3) do you have limited time i.e. Works fortnight ?
or similar
4) what does your c'van tow like & what do you
tow it with ?
All questions that will affect how far you can go
and thus which sites are around for you to read up on !
I'm definitely NOT trying to put you off, just trying
to ensure you get the very best experience of a
Beautiful Country !

Well one of my favourite sites is Oban, North Ledaig. It is right on the coast, excellent views, well run, yes it is on the bigger side but is divided up into sections. Oban is a lovely town only 10 miles away.
Maybe you could give more info, like what do you like to do. That might help with some of the locations. At the time of year you are looking at coming up none of the sites will be that busy so you should be able to pick and choose.

EasyT as the OP is from 3 years ago I'm hoping he has already returned.

Difficult to advise without knowing what you like to do. The Coast South of the Clyde is mostly countryside and very pleasant. The clubs sites there probably meet your criteria. The West North of the Clyde is generally mountainous and good for walking, cycling and just taking in the scenery. The East coast is less mountainous but there is plenty to see with lots of castles, houses and the like with good walking.
The cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh have lots to do with good club sites and there is plenty more in the other cities too. Generally I would say all the club sites are worth using but have no experience of most of the commercial ones but the ones you say you want to avoid are generally in the South. The C&CC sites we have used are also likely to meet your requirements.
Do not forget to visit a couple of distilleries either.

I mentioned this on the snaging thread back on the 9th Feb. I noticed that for a short time very old threads were showing as the last post on the discussions page. On refreshing they were quickly replaced by the proper last post. However, of course if anyone happened to click on it in the meantime and comment, it reactivated an old thread. I will report this thread and hopefully something will be done about it.

Can't believe I didn't spot that.
Surely it's not a glitch in the site?

When I went to like Tinwheeler's so taken to log in page was the returned to a recent trip on Scotland it was about NC500 I think. Too confused to take it in properly. Defo not a site glitch 😂😂😂😂.
Been back and checked that post called holiday in Scotland posted 16 Feb 2017. This one 2014.
I am going to report my post, if I can, and see what or whether I get as a response.

Well I waited for report button to appear, by which time I'd been logged out. Clicked on report taken to log in page, back to first page of the thread 😣, went to click on report again - as I have to with like, but button gone - left with quote or like. Does it mean it's been reported? Old site took me to somewhere to type reason for report. Ho hum 😉

You can't report your own posts any more, Bakers. I guess that leaves email.

The 2 "Holiday in Scotland " threads are totally mixed up and interchangeable. I started on page 1 of the 2014 thread, carried onto page 2 OK but backspace took me to the other thread. Very weird!!

It's all falling apart at the seams. Frustrating, to say the least.

Oh that'll be about right 🙄. Why did it bring up the button then? Sorry wrong thread should be on ghetto rhetorical one. 😂😂😂😂
Can't be bothered to email could someone else report my response? I'll see if I can report the thread. Boy is this tiring and frustrating 😣
