What would you charge

Just bored here in London again (on OHMS) and in case In said I was scouring the interent for prices to back up my claim so I looked at some of the last sites I've been to. For a family of three in peak:
Melrose £31.70
Burford £29.40
Norfolk Broads £32.00
Scarborough £31.40
Barnard Castle: £34.80
In fairness to Ian I did try and find some sites which charged his claim of £45 (quote: still about the same that the CC currently charge ) I found:
Seacroft at £39.40
Well Ian, there's 11 I've found at around £34 if you could find some at £45 that would be great (oh don't forget I've already got Hillhead)

Thanks Mr M.
Actually to get my mind off the rather 'energetic and loud' German couple next door I have donned my earphones and did some more research on the prices of yet more sites for a family of three in peak. I looked at more clubs sites I could remember going to over the years:
New England Bay £25.40
Culloden £26.50
Garlieston £25.30
Bunree £31.90
White House Beach £28.20
Kendall £30.80
Coniston £30.80
Meathrop Fell £32.80
Warwick £28.30
Hawes £32.80
Lower Wensleydale £25.70
Richmond £26.50
I am sure there are more I've been to.
Yes I am very sad! (considering what's going on next door)

On-costs and regional/local costs will be different for different sites. Maybe some of the smaller more remote sites are in effect 'subsidised' by the larger ones. Being a 'club' and having these 'less' profitable sites available to us on the network in such a manner is fine with me. I guess the commercials would not be keen to continue to operate like this and would see them as a financial burden. Just a thought.

It would appear then that there are possibly different 'business' models for the larger commercials, the smaller commercials and our 'club' as a network. I'm happy with that differentiation, one model does not fit all and if the larger very popular sites subsidise some of the smaller more remote sites available to all of us members so be it. Some of these remote sites are in stunning locations and are a real joy for quite a few of us.

I would lower the prices in school holidays as it seems very unfair that people with children are penalised with higher charges. Maybe keep the adult and child prices the same throughout the year and slightly increase the pitch price. I would also like to be able to prebook pitches so that when we travel with other families we can be sited next to each other.

That would really suit you, Wacky, but might well disadvantage the rest of the membership.
You need to look at the overall picture and consider the practicalities of pitches standing empty while waiting for your entire party to turn up and work out how income will be recouped if prices are reduced for you.
Have you considered sites other than club sites? They may well be able to accommodate group bookings but I suspect will be much dearer in peak season.

If prices go down in School Holidays when when there are more people on site then they will have to go up off peak when there are fewer folk on site and therefore proportionally more than the reductions. Some folk say that CC off peak prices are already too dear and that they supplement peak prices when compared to large commercials who often have larger price differentials.
You can see where this leads? Prices dropped when CC sites are generally full. Members encouraged to use commercial sites in off peak. Doesn't sound a good system
