We have just returned from a weekend at Meathop Fell  (yes I know - Friday to Sunday!)

All of the pitches have had new gravel put on them. (limestone rather than the original lakeland slate) However the gravel has not been compacted down and on the pitch that we were on (44) this allowed/caused the jockey wheel to dig-in when moving the van round. This was not a real problem for me as I carry a length of wood to go under the wheel, but it may be a problem to some other folks.

We did mention it to the wardens on leaving and he said that he may been to take a little off that pitch.

Apologies for the double post. It didn't show-up the first time I did it (forum glitch??)

Thanks for the info.  Last time we were on this site, we noticed that some pitches were quite well covered with gravel whilst others had hardly any.

Will see how it goes when I'm there next month.
