Never seen that before
Just had a walk around site......there are a couple of 'fifth wheeler' units on site and they are big. One of them is really big, with the slide out sides etc.
No real problem with that, it is fitted on a standard pitch.......
But the unusual part is that the tow vehicle is a lorry tractor unit. The sort that usually has a tanker or a container type trailer on the back.
Never seen that before......

One of the wardens who posts on here has one. Perhaps it's him. He carries his Smart behind the cab.

In fact he's posted in Dual-cab.

Hi
The towing pin on fifth wheel caravans is the same as most hgv trailers so apart from the limit of space under the body, any normal sized tractor unit can tow them.
I have an 11 meter fifth wheeler I use in Spain and I used to get the owner of a local lorry firm to move it for me.
As TW states, Keith over in Norfolk has one, quite impressive.

I seem to remember that the warden at the CC's Kinlochewe site has such a unit, Perhaps that's the one.

Ha,
I guess Keith is on tour!!
There's quite a few fifth wheelers around now, many can be towed by a Nissan Navarra type pickup truck, so can get on most sites. With the slide out rooms it can give the floor space of an average size caravan / awning set up without the canvas.

like my midi-FIAT can do the '500' in the far
north OK. Then you come on 'ere upsetting me
and saying how wonderful these mobile palaces
really can be !!
Think Brian must get another Lottery Ticket to
cover the chauffeur's wages

It's an incredible thing to see one of these units arrive on site! A bit like Thunderbird 2 with secret bits in the side that slide out then a smart car is unloaded ( Thunderbird 4) is used to get into places that the tractor unit cannot! This was our sons description!
