On Monday, it will be four weeks since Bailey failed to keep our motorhome secure whilst it was in their possession undergoing warranty repairs at their premises in Bristol.
We just thought we would let everyone have an update of what has happened in the past week or so.
Last Thursday (2/2/17) we received two Offers from Bailey to resolve the matter. It was Michelle Fleet, the Senior Customer Services Manager, who emailed us with the Offers and stated that she had also forwarded the offer to us in writing by post. In the email she expressed how sorry and embarrassed Bailey are at what has happened and stated that it was ‘entirely their mistake’.
We spoke with our solicitor last Friday (3/2/17) and replied to Bailey, via email, on Sunday giving them seven days to respond (we expect a response by Monday 13th next week). We got a ‘read receipt’ to say that it had been opened by Michelle but she did not reply to acknowledge the content of the email or to specify what would happen next. We followed it up with a written letter which was delivered on Tuesday 7/2/17. We have received no further communications from Bailey this week despite Michelle reassuring us that she would endeavour to communicate better with us.
At the time of writing, more than a week since the ‘Offers’ email from Bailey, we have still to receive the written Offers by post as stated by Michelle in her email on Thursday 2nd February.
In addition, on the 21st January, we wrote to Nick Howard (Managing Director) and Stephen Howard (Chairman). These letters were delivered on the 24th January. We have still not had a reply from either of them. We still do not understand why they have not responded especially if Bailey are as sorry and embarrassed as Michelle states they are. It is of course possible that the letters did not actually reach them so they are oblivious to the theft that occurred on their premises?
Bailey has not offered us the use of a temporary ‘courtesy’ motorhome in the short term. Next week is the half-term break and we have had to cancel our camp site booking – our kids are disappointed. Normally, by this time of year, we have booked our summer holiday trip to France and Spain but sadly we are unable to plan anything whilst this issue persists. Likewise, we cannot make plans for Easter. In March we have been invited to have tea with our MP at the Houses of Parliament – usually when going to London we stay at one of the CC sites but on this occasion we have had to book train tickets and a hotel due to having no motorhome.
Role on Monday……

I sincerely hope you hear something on Monday - but I'm not holding my breath. I feel sorry for you. Whatever happens keep a note of the time you yourself are spending on this, dates start and finish times and reason; all additional costs incurred from the lack of use eg your visit to House of Commons and MP, show your workings out. Because when it is either sorted or taken through the court you can include these costs as well as the replacement motorhome.
From what you are posting on here Baileys are not looking customer focused or in a hurry to resolve the issue. Certainly I will watch your posts with interest as they don't sound like a company I'd like to do business with.
Fingers crossed.

So are you saying you have rejected the offers from Bailey?
I suspect lack of response is whilst they take advice as you have from a solicitor however a quick "we have received your email and will respond in due course" would have been nice even though you know they read it as you got a read receipt.

Surely the least offer possible would be replacement exactly 'like for like' ( with compensation for loss of use etc) but surely a brand new MH would not cost Bailey anywhere near the list price so, IMO, the cost difference would be negligible. Maybe they do not want tot start some kind of precedence.
Me thinks it is time to start a social media campaign!

It seems odd bailey dealing in this way but I guess we are not aware of the offer or what you have asked for, as previous poster has said the opening offer would have to be a replacement from them and another offer for all the hassle it has caused you. If it is in hands of solicitors I would be careful what you post on a forum

Not sure about Bailey not wanting to start a precedence. Are they expecting to get many owners outfits stolen?
No I was really meaning starting a precedence of presenting new caravans to disgruntled owners. If they started this they wouldn't have any vans to sell for many years to come!

Sorry to hear about your loss.the way forward is maybe take direct action. Have some t shirts printed with what's happened on and then visit the Bailey stand at Birmingham in a couple of weeks time. I would expect they will want to resolve this very quickly as you could have an impact on their sales. Good luck.

Just to let you know that everything has now been sorted. Bailey gave us what they were 'obliged' to give us and offered us NO COMPENSATION for loss of use, inconvenience, etc. caused by their carelessness (remember our MH was at their premises for warranty repairs and they failed to keep it secure by leaving the keys in it which led to its theft).
Anyway time to move on - I've attached some photos of the replacement that we've acquired - we can start planning our summer holidays now!!!!!!

Well Done !! Enjoy .

So glad you have a replacement and can begin to plan some trips and travel. I do hope this one has no issues that require Bailey's attention 😮 It has taken a while for you to resolve and I would imagine been very stressful, inconvenient and time consuming. Shame they offered nothing towards that and additional costs incurred, but to fight for that means more precious hours of your life you can't reclaim. Thank you for coming back and updating us. Wishing you all happy trips- do keep us posted about your travels.

glad you have got it all sorted, hope they sacked the person that left the keys in enabling it to be stolen and also they become more aware of what they are doing in future when vehicles are left on the premises one thing though who knew it was left there with the keys in ,surely they are parked away from public view or was it an inside job ??
