Can anyone tell where this site is, seen on the site video but can't search on the club sites or map

    The campsite is currently closed. It reopens on 17 March and stays open until 30 October 2017.
     
    All advance weekend bookings are subject to a minimum two-night stay.
     
    Arrivals between 1pm and 8pm. There is no late arrivals area.
     
    Pitches must be vacated by 12 noon on the day of departure.

    54 caravan / motorhome pitches with electric hook-up (max outfit length eight metres)
     
    15 tent pitches - some with electric hook-ups

    I believe its not one of CC sites now, reverted to National Trust. Hope this helps ☺

    It is a nicely located site. All grass when we used it but very good drainage. The entrance turn in was a little bit tight due to a yew bush needing cutting on left of entrance and needed to be taken wide. Not too difficult however and they may have trimmed the bush in the last 3 years wink

    I would be remiss of me to point out the costs of suing this site to those who think clubs sites are expensive and their T&C too lax.

    For a family of four in high season it come to £31 pounds per night, for a grass pitch (FYI grass pitches in my view are bog standard - sometimes literally), also full payment on booking and cancel within a week of your booking you lose it all (unless it is possible to move your booking). But then if you decide to leave early then its:

    Refunds will not be given if you decide to cancel your booking or leave the campsite early due to inclement weather, illness or other reasons beyond your control. We recommend that you buy holiday insurance to compensate you in these circumstances

    Doesn't compare too well with the club's policy on leaving early (max one night's fee)

    As already said a minimum of two nights stay, but BH is three nights.

    I think that for this site and in its location £31 a night is excellent. I normally avoid grass but this site has superb ground drainage. When we were there we experienced a very heavy and very long period of overnight rain although the weather had been warm. The ground was firm and not at all muddy despite this. Between a bank of trees and the site road was a depression. This had filled with rain water to a depth of probably 12'' to 15''. When we went out for a walk there were two kiddies with their mums. They were both in bathing suits and playing in the water. When we returned a few hours later the water had gone from this hollow. None of the pitches were in anyway affected. 

    Apart from the mill itself there are very pleasant riverside and meadow walks straight off the site. There is food and a pint to be had within quarter of a mile. Some pleasant villages nearby. Good value in my view.

    You can cancel your booking and receive a full refund up to a week before arrival.

    On the vid l saw it didn't give a location, to google it you need to have good idea where it is, for your info eurotraveller asking here has given all the answers l require, did the right thing didn't l

    We go to Houghton Mill site 2 or 3 times a year as it is fairly local to us.  It is a really lovely site with great wardens.  Everything kept very clean.  It is next to the village of Houghton which has a very good village shop/post office and 2 pubs, one of them very good - The Three Jolly Butchers.  We booked to go last October, paid up front but had to cancel at the last minute.  We were gong to ask if we could hold it over to this season as it was too late to re-book for last season but they immediately offered a refund which was in our account in a couple of days.  I agree with EasyT about the bush at the entrance and it is a bit of a tight turn but it is no worse than some other sites. The bush has been cut back slightly - it belongs to a house owner not the NT. I can't recommend the site highly enough.

    Indeed it belongs to the adjacent house but simple enough to keep it cut back on NT side. Being a Yew tree (I think?) it should respond quite well to pruning. As there is virtually no moving traffic on the road the trick as millihull probably would agree is simply to keep well over on the RHS of the road before turning.

    I think that the showers etc were a tad dated but clean and fine to use. The National Trust tearoom is nearby. We would have been there for 5 nights or maybe 6. We never got into the Mill as we were too busy laughing
