We have disposed of most of our Premium Bonds as there seem no point having the money tied up in them. OK you could get lucky. Some years ago we had a nice tranche of Bonds and we seem to win regular amounts, at least enough to cover the interest we would have got elsewhere. We then decided to double the investment and won absolutely nothing so apart from a few odd ones stuck on the inside of ERNIE!!!

Both us and sister are doing very well, way beyond any bank or ISA payout. Just lucky I guess!smile

I like the Premium bonds.  We have small wins every month. Nothing big, just multiples of £25.  -- Much better returns than depositing the money in a bank or building society account.

Those  "bankers" have ruined savings accounts with their miserly 0.5% interest. Doesn't even keep pace with inflation.

    Premium bonds for me !!

    Cheers....................K

We've had a good income from p bonds. I gradually bought them over the years. As they are government backed they'd be the last to go in a crisis.

You need to dump savings accounts ans switch to nterest paying current accounts.

    Some pay 3%.

I used to have some premium bonds but eventually cashed them in.  Won very little over a very long period of time.

OH and I have bonds and either one or the other or both of us win most months so, for us, it's reasonable.

I have won 15 times in 16 months, wonder if this is a record? I have won over £3,000 in the last 3 years so no grumbles. I wouldn't have got anywhere near that in the bank and it's tax free. Well done Ernie.

We've only ever won the minimum, when it was £50 and now it's £25; never won more than that.  Thinking of putting it into the new Tesco current account which pays 3% on a maximum of £6000 per person.  That would pay a total of £360 per annum, so £30 a month, which is more than we ever win on the bonds.

Delighted to hear that there are winners. 😃 Hubby has never had a sniff in 65 years and I haven't in 15 years. My late aunt and had several little ones and her husband reckons to get one a month. But other than them I've not known winners.

Our largest win was £250, good few years ago though. Very timely, the cheque was on our doormat as we arrived home after a month away!

We have had three per month a few times, two isn't rare either. I love taking them into bank, way better than any interest paying account!laughing

I had a few thousand in premium bonds for a good few years and only ever won £25 once in all the time I had them.... I transferred it all into my ISA, even at a lowish interest rate, something is better than virtually nothing which is what I got with the premium bonds...undecided

Does anyone ever win the million? We've won £25 amounts - sometimes regularly, sometime we wait for months. Averages out at not a lot!
