just recieved Feb copy of the club mag, same old same old,

why dont the club do papperless membership for those who want it with a discount on the membership,

the gas & electric do with a saving of £12.00 per fuel per year

the club would save more than they give members for papperless price, monthly mag, sites directory and postage

The C&CC do this but you also lose the sites book but the discount is far smaller than £12 so to me is not worth the bother.  I doubt the saving to CC would be that high either as the magazine is basically paid for by the advertising and not the subscription. You can get the magazine digitally only if you want, but there is no discount, possibly because the saving is not big enough for them to feel it is worthwhile or possibly advertisers believe that the digital downloads are less effective for them so the club do not want to encourage it.

Yes, just let Club know you don't want the paper mag, then browse on the website. You won't get a saving, but canny members get double their membership fees back by making good use of the great days out savings offers!

There used to be a digital version on the web site but now the app has to be downloaded instead. I hear this can use up quite a bit of memory?

Not having the digital version is a retrograde step in my view

The membership fee has no bearing on the production of the magazine as this is more than covered by it's advertising.

Why is the CC on-line magazine not available under a windows environment via a URL.

Seems rather stupid that we can get it on an IOS or Android portable device but  if we want to read it on a PC it's not available.

Why  ????     Its not rocket science !!

    Cheers...................K

I was very disappointed with the CC magazine this month.  Very bland.  Mr H even commented (unusual for him) and said it was a waste of space.  He usually likes reading the technical reports but they seem to have been 'dumbed down'.

It is not so much the memory it uses when you download a copy. About 300 Mb an issue for the new look mag, so 3.6Gb a year if you didn't delete. However, if you delete individual issues it does not give you it all back, it retains about 150 Mb an issue. The only way round this is to delete and reinstall the app. Or now, I think it's new or I've not noticed it before, in settings there is a delete all data. In my opinion, the best way to use the app is the same as with the paper magazine, load it read and discard. However, make sure you use the delete all data function, not the individual copy.

So the Club app doesn't work properly as well as the website, either? Can't they get anything right?

As it only works on android and iOS devices, most of which have fairly limited SSD's it does seem of a strange design. If it was for use on my windows machine with 2 terabyte HD I would leave them all on, as I would not be bothered about a few gig here or there. However, on the pad it would make more sense to replace one magazine with another, this would limit it to 400 Mb max which would be a workable size, even on older machines with limited space.

I've downloaded the app (Android) and it doesn't work on my (admittedly more than a year old) Motorola tablet. It would be far better to have it available on the website as it used to be.

I suppose I'll have to opt back in to having the paper copy which is ridiculous.

Bit of a stab in the dark here, but I am guessing that this might be a rhetorical question?

The screen views on applications can be somewhere between difficult and impossible to read, and with no redress. At least on a proper computer one can alter size and colour more easily, and scroll around with a proper mouse.

Readability, at least on the iPad, is one of the positives about the app. In portrait it is large enough to read most of the text on the page and view photos. As to enlarging, a simple movement of the fingers does that, and a flick takes me to the next page. Faster than the average mouse, any day.😉
