Caravan bed lengths
I know this has been discussed before but I won't even try finding on this new forum!
My question is what makers do decent length single beds - 6'3" would suit - I took my tape measure to the NEC and can't remember what I found out! I am looking for a 2nd hand caravan at the moment and it would help to rule out those makes that only cater for shorter people than me. My old Abbey is fine but that's all I know. Thank you in advance.

I'm sure our 2010 Coachman 2 berth had bunks in excess of 6', Pippah.

This question has been raised on numerous occasions in the past. If you want to know how long manufacturer's bunks are, then Google the manufacturer's web site and obtain the bed lengths for whichever model you are interested in from the specifications. It only takes a few minutes, so it's quicker and more accurate than asking on CT.
I'm sure that publishing your findings on CT will be appreciated by others with similar questions.

Pippah - some of the longest beds around are in Adria caravans and the link takes you to the technical data, of some past models, which may help you identify layouts and specifications which might suit you.
The Adria Action, for example, has single beds which are 6ft 7in long and the 542 UK (much larger van) has single beds at 6ft 4in and a double crosssways at 7ft 4in.
We have an Adria in this country and the double rear bed is 6ft 9in. It's a very nicely finished van and so far has been problem free, with no damp issues. Our only gripe was that the rear bedroom and over the kitchen rooflights were the obscure type, but we've replaced them with Mini-Hekis, one of which was very kindly given to me by a Caravan Club member.
Do you know what layout you're looking for - how many berths, etc., and what weight limit can your towcar take?

Pippah, I have no problem with you asking and, if we still had the Coachman, I'd go out and measure the bunks for you.

. I took advantage of the sunshine today and drove to Bawtry with my tape measure and iPad to record findings! I was quite surprised at how many beds were only 5'10". There was one nice Lunar Quasar with a single/bunk across the back which appealed and the bathroom wasn't too cramped - otherwise I think I prefer end bathroom. I don't need to get too big as a solo + 2 biggish dogs but I do like my bathroom and kitchen space. A nice Bailey Monarch with one bed at 6'3" might be where I end up - or give mine some TLC! I am in the mood for a change though. 2 -
I'm sorry that you feel that my advice that manufacturer's specifications gave bed lengths, and that they are quickly and readily available on the internet is unhelpful post policing. We've certainly created shortlists of very many products, cars and caravans through internet searches as they tend to be quicker and more productive than asking around - which might well be a second stage once the shortlist has been created. So my post was actually made in a spirit of practical help.

I can understand your concern's about bed lengths, because for us it's one of the main things we look at when choosing a caravan. A lot of caravan manufactures are producing larger vans with smaller beds, maybe so that they can get more other things in so they can sell more van's, I don't know what there thinking is, all I no is that our Elddis Crusader is the same width as our previous Crusader and the same layout and the two single beds are narrower than our first one. They must think we are all getting slimmer and shorter, which I'm afraid is not true.

What a shame the tone wasn't one of help, JC. You delivered a put down and, no matter how you try to dress it up now, it was unnecessarily rude and that is why I reported your post yesterday as it is in breach of the guidelines which say we should be polite.
Incidentally, Pippah said she is looking for a used caravan so I doubt manufacturers' websites will be of help.

If you have read all of Pippah's posts you will be aware that she took her tape measure to the NEC, which is known for its displays of current models, not second hand ones. My post gave an insight into a far quicker way of obtaining bed lengths than the NEC though maybe not as much fun. Since Pippah, first posted, just three people have given specific bed lengths, and then only for their own vans. Are you really suggesting that you don't like my tone, or is the truth that you just want to chat on CT at a cost of not providing wide ranging and accurate information from manufacturers. Come on, we live in an internet age and ICT is a core curriculum subject which can't be ignored. Even Encyclopedia Britannica is Web based now.

Your attempt to deflect attention away from your earlier post and towards me is futile and, as this matter is now with the CM, I'm not going to be drawn further on the matter which is there for all to see and for the CM to consider.

Hey - don't worry about it chaps - I was aware that I could google manufacturers but asked here because I thought it might be more simple than getting into that unending forest of brochures. I did try that Adria website but that wasn't all that helpful from where I was looking I couldn't get the specs up for their smallest model. I think it might be wiser for me to buy from a dealership reasonably local too.
Actually jenny - a lot of the dealers couldn't find the bed length at the NEC either - it was apparently a question not often asked - which I find hard to believe! So if they couldn't find their own bed lengths on their own brochures - I didn't feel a search would be all that easy!

Hi Pippah, I'm not the slightest bit surprised at the lack of detailed information on the part of salesmen, it appears to be a universal problem whatever the commodity. It really does pay to do your own research, and manufacturers websites are a good start - though not the end. It's late, but I'll perhaps look at the Adria website for information tomorrow.

Hi Pippah, because I've been out and my husband is playing fantasy football, I've had a look for you. My last post took 12 minutes to research and compose, which I hope you'll agree is an endorsement of web based searches V asking unknowledgable salesmen. Who's got the time to work with guesswork, I know that I haven't.

You can't beat taking a tape measure and finding out for yourself.
In my Lunar Delta SB the spec puts the two fixed beds at 6ft 2inch, however this is then exact length between bulkhead and cupboards into which the mattress fits. But the padded headboards take up 2 inches so the actual workable length is 6 foot.
