I'm in my 12th week of coughing now (started on 15th November).  Tickly to start with, with violent spasms of coughing, aches & pains within a few days, but no sniffles until nearly 3 weeks in, no sore throat etc.  Went to doc after 4 weeks & was given a steroid nasal spray, and some antibiotics for some "crackles" in the lungs.  The spray did nothing but, at least, I didn't get a chest infection. Been taking Pholcodine linctus at night so that I can get to sleep without coughing.  Slightly better than it was, but seems to vary from day to day.  I've spoken to lots of people during my work at the hospital, and at other places, and there seems to be a lot of variations of viral infection going around.

    Get well soon, everyone.

, returned to doctors Tuesday , had to blow in these machines really really hard work, thought I was going to pass out ! annyway she gave me a new puffer with steroid in frown brown/cream colour, take two puffs only morning and evening ,

started on that evening ( don't know if it done any thing , anyway I develop the worst headache I have ever had couldn't shift it I  took my two puffs in the evening still really bad headache even through the night couldn't sleep properly with the headache  , now I don't suffer with headaches so thought it might be the puffer , so no more puffer for me !Yes  Headache cleared last night , reading through the leaflet it's says once started don't stop surprised  See doctor , that's a laugh our appointment system routine 3weeks , I just give up ,, coughing has eased a lot feeling better in myself can now get air in my lungs to at least cough when needed

so there's light at the end of the the tunnel for you all ,mine started mid November

Went to the doc's yesterday, was given a steroid inhaler to see if reduces any inflammation in my airways and stops the cough.  Can take two or three weeks to take effect, apparently, only problem is, how will I know if it's the inhaler that's helped, or the cough has just cleared up on its own? :-/  There is a variation of asthma that has a dry cough as its only symptom, so I could have that, but hopefully not.
