Sad to  hear  that  the  young  DJ  Brian  Matthew  has  decided

that  his  recent  poor  health  means  he  feels  that  it  is  time

for  him  to  retire --  and  he  is  only  88  !  Looks  like  my

entire  youth  has  been  consigned  to  history   .  Enjoy  the

rest  Sir,  &  Thank  You

We have listened to Sounds of the Sixties for as long as Brian Matthews has presented it!  It  marked our later childhood, and youth, and those memorable years when you think you are an adult, but only years later can see that you weren't!  I love listening to the programme, and to Brian bringing back long forgotten songs (including one by a band who I used to go around with, and went out with the drummer as a teenager!)

Brian will be sadly missed, and let's hope that the programme continues.  Tim Rice has done a great job recently and long may it continue.

Saddened  to  read  in  today,  Saturdays,  newspaper

that  there  is  some  disagreement  between  B M &  the

BBC  as  to  the  facts  here.

Do  hope  there  is  a  satisfactory  result  to  this  --  no  way

should  an  88 year  old  be  put  under  pressure

He is an extremely knowledgable man and I will miss his show on Saturday mornings.

I had a feeling that he wouldn't return to his programme and sorry to learn of his retirement.  I wish him well, he deserves it.
