    Believe  me  the  Midgies  in  and  around  Glen 

    Trool  are  the  Standard  Bearers  for  ALL  biting

    beasties--  in  the  breeding  season ( its  only  the 

    females  that  bite  surprised ! )  even  the  trees  try  to  take

    cover  from  them  !!

    Could  it  be  that  your  particular  form  of  Employment

    We toured the west coast from mid-April to mid May before the midge season started.  We are so glad we did the scenery was spectacular! We want to go back and will definitely go at that time of year again.

    September is late for midges but sometimes there can still be some about.

    Not in Scotland but at Kielder last early September. After a rainstorm there seemed plenty of midges and neck slapping. As I said they rarely trouble me

    As a fisherman "Avon" seems to be OK. However the easiest way is to buy a midge net for about  £5. Also when fishing in Midge regions a pair of  latex gloves are great. Ask the surgery nurse for a pair when you next visit.

    No  Way  Fisherman  !!

    One  reason  is  the  impoverished  state  of  the  English  N H S  frown

    And  the  other  reason  is the  look  you  would  get  &  the

    Reception  area  staff  smiling  smugly  &  pointing  you  out  !embarassed

    The midge thing is very hard to pin down in terms of area.  MOSTLY troublesome in forested areas from late June to late August but having lived in various spots in Scotland you can be demented by them and then move 20 miles and not find a single one.  So come along, we'd love to see you all. Enjoy Scotland, bring all the potions mentioned earlier,  plus hats, long sleeves and  long trousers, just in case you encounter the dreaded midge.  You'll probably have these clothes with you anyway in the UK😜😎

    The fact that there are Wee Beasties in Scotland has been well documented for centuries. 

    Why then do many caravanners from south of the border insist in visiting Scotland knowing they will most likely experience the Wee Beasties and then write at length about how horrible the Nation of Scotland is, because of a few midges.  

    The answer is obvious.--- Find another holiday location and leave Scotland to those who accept the Grandeur and Scenic beauty of this fine nation, which means accepting Scotland for what it has to offer. --- Variable weather and  Wee Beasties.

    AMB - That's where I got mine plus a free spare. Maybe the Welsh NHS is not as awful as English politicians seem to like saying.
