Motorhome Withdrawal...

That thing called "work" and those even peskier things called "teens" get in the way of being able to go away whenever I would like...

But driving home on the M62 today I saw three Motorhomes either on their way to or from somewhere.

I actually felt envy, sadness and longing all rolled into one wave of emotion..

I cannot wait for my next trip (Chatsworth - 9 sleeps).

On the one hand, it's great that we love our MH so much that we look forward to every trip on the other, slightly concerning that I feel such jealousy at others when I'm not in mine! wink

I think I just needed to share this...a bit like therapy cool

I feel exactly the same. Hubby retired and I didn't returned to work on our return from our last extended trip to NZ to visit our daughter. So actually working isn't an issue getting in the way as I type, himself reckons next month weather dependant 😃. I'm torn between job hunting and a time exploring with the motorhome 😂😂. I'd jump at the latter if our daughter and grandaughters didn't live the other side of the planet. I really want away very soon as we didn't manage much last year, only local trips - nowt wrong with that at least it's in the motorhome 😃

Glad you're making the most of your new motorhome Tricky. Must be tough for you and it's good you keep active and occupied.  Is it coming up to the anniversary or am I well out?

I remember one winter driving south after a business trip and at one point the road passed over a canal.  I glanced out and there chugging its way up the canal was a narrowboat. Smoke was coming from its chimney and a well wrapped up man was at the tiller.

I thought "what the **** am I doing here"?    Actually, I don't tend to wonder where others are going.  As Paul Theroux put it,  "Tourists don't know where they've been, travelers don't know where they're going."

I have the same problem being situated between Rookesbury Park and the ferries. I often speculate on the destination of those I see.

With a motorhome it is easy to get up and go at a moments notice. Meaning that any spare time you have can be utilised.-- A Friday evening to Sunday evening can be done as often as you like. Also a day away in the M/H to local places of interest is a great asset as you are taking your facilities with you.

Unlike Caravans , Motorhomes are much handier.--- Start it up, Move off your drive and start your adventure. ----------- Brilliant !!

    Cheers................K

if it wasn't for those needy teens...undecidedwink

They've said they don't mind us going away occasionally but not every weekend.

The irony is that they appear at meal times and sit like baby blackbirds in the nest, mouths open, waiting to be fed and then disappear straight after and we sit and look longingly at our van outside.

I'm okay with it at the moment but when the sun comes out in March (because I've decided that's when the weather will change haha) we will be upping that to 2-3 times a month!

Do what real Blackbirds do, move, leave them to fend for themselves, they will survive.

This won't help at all I know...

We retired last year & now our van beckons from our drive on a regular basis. As previously stated, your time will come.

Are you fit enough to start thinking of a break DD? Hope you are feeling a lot better.smile

Ours has been sitting on it's own since the New Year but it's had an MOT and servicing, a few bits sorted and we hope to go away soon. Not planning too far ahead this year, one or two breaks booked and if we don't go away I'll sit in it with a cup of coffee and look at the garden! wink
