Getting stains off my roof

I kept my van on a site with loads of Ash trees around, now home I am trying to get the roof clean, I have tried black streak cleaner, sugar soap and various other cleaning products but can't get the stains off. I will welcome any advise on this matter. Have thought about using tar remover but am afraid of damaging the paint work, The van is a 2014 Swift so don't want to scrub too hard.

    You might want to move this question to another section of the forum. Try 'Caravans'.

    The title 'Ask the experts' is only relevant when the CC have an 'expert' available to answer questions. I think that the last one was with Lex Leasing on purchasing a new tow car.

    Don't worry about it. The 'ask the expert' is an ill thought section whereby we ask an appointed expert in a particular field questions & we get the answers 'live'as they're asked.

    Unfortunately, the section is always left open & people innocently ask general questions here instead of one the 30 something surprised other sections that the forum has.

    Yet another example of CC's explanation being inadequate and the obvious action of closing the section between events not being taken. I've lost count of how many times I've said this. undecided

    If the caravan roof is really that bad it might  pay you to get in a professional caravan valeter - and then buy a cover to stop the problem recurring.  You can buy cheap and cheerful covers from ebay and they do work.  They get filthy but come clean with a power wash and hang on the line to dry!  We have two caravans, one in this country, one in France, and both are kept covered.  However, the one in this country does get 'greenish' over the summer because it's left on a year round pitch, and is near to trees.  We use Greased Lightning which is a dry cleaner to clean and polish it before we cover it again for the winter and it's towards the end of the summer before we notice any 'green' again.

    If you don't want a professional valeter and Greased Lightning doesn't work then try Fenwicks, Autoglym, Elbow Grease spray from pound shops, bleach and water, a low pressure power washer, and various other solutions as suggested by googling - 'How to get green mould off my caravan'.

    If it is sap stains that are your problem I have found that using a high alcohol content hand cleanser works well for removing sap stains.  Just apply a little, leave it for a few minutes to soften the sap and then wash it off.  I once saw a comparison test on YouTube where a fellow tested various brand named sap cleaners and hand cleaner, the hand cleaner won hands down - and it is probably a lot cheaper.  The sooner you remove them the better.  If it is green 'mould' then Val has given excellent advice, I use Fenwicks stuff, apply it, leave it for a few minutes to do it's magic then wash it off with a soft brush.  Use a more concentrated mix on stubborn areas - 10:1 in a spray bottle.

    undecided ,I have used a Patio Cleaner from "Screwfix".We use it on the boats too.Brush or spray it on ,leave for a while (do a test area) then wash off .Finish with a good polish like "Autoglym"
