I don't know of any list. However, apart from thoroughly inspecting the van to check for any damage, or things not put together correctly / poorly, what you require will depend on your experience. When we picked up our fist van, we new nothing. They were very good and when we arrived the van was hooked up to EHU water and gas, so that everything could be demonstrated. They even showed us how to hitch up safely and then made us do it. For the second van we had more experience, so went with a list of questions, centred mainly on the differences. Such as the ATC and Alde heating, which we got them to fully explain. However, again the van was powered up when we arrived and everything demonstrated as working. Once we had been showed everything, there was a question and answer session before we trotted off to pay and they switched our battery / Gas for there's.

the list i linked to above shows the main areas Steve refers to, so a useful aid...

should anyone want more detailled items, im sure there might be a 'typical/sample' habitation checklist on the web....again useful for going through 'everything' should this be desired..

My advice is do it thoroughly.

Our first one (Lunar) looked great but we soon found out there was a lot of very small panel damage inside and out.  Having said that it only needed 1 warranty visit.

The 2nd one (Sterling) was it has to be said pretty perfect, but 10 months on it's just been dropped back at the dealer for warranty visit No 4.

The dealer we use will arrange a viewing as soon as the van is in, thats before even the PDI is done. I like this idea you are left alone to "poke" around for as long as you like. OK its not spike and span but there is no rush to check the build side, cupboard doors, panels etc. On the day of collection you just have to see the equipment side, and take in the information on that latest bit of tech.

The golden rule is satisfy yourself with the build and equipment as far as you possibly can before driving off. Then one of the first things I do on arrival home is pressurize the water system and check every pipe and connection in the van, water is the one thing that can spoil any pleasure you have in your new van, then I check all electrical equipment.

    Good advice Tigi,

Our dealer has said he will call us the moment its delivered to them for the very reason you have stated.

I'm currently making a list of things to check and then recheck on collection.

All the obvious ones have been added but there's bound to be something I'll overlook.
