I'm  in  agreement  with  you  KjellNN,  It  clearly  states  those

of  age  74  &  75  are  not  yet  within  the  scheme,  perhaps

another  year  or  two  for  us  to  wait  I  guess   frown

I have got the dreaded shingles at the moment but at least I was given the antiviral tablets quickly.  The vaccination must be worth it if it prevents it coming back.   Don't believe those who say you can only get it twice.........oh well back to the holiday planning, got to do something to take my mind off the painful lumps

Sorry I missed this, apologies, I can now see the age gap. I put the link back on so that it could be read by all.

Out of interest I see that it also boosts immunity for anyone who has had shingles.

That, according to the NHS the vaccine lasts at least five years.

Also it costs £100-200 to have the vaccine done privately.

Yes, it is expensive !    As I will not qualify until at least later this year, I had a look at getting it privately, the clinics up here mainly do not divulge the cost, but those that do seem to be charging £195.

Brue I had the jab to prevent a further outbreak and the surgery was fine with that - but I did have to ask even though in the eligible age group - I daresay its a good way of keeping the surgery budget ok.  My bout was not diagnosed until it was too late for the anti-virals to take much effect - so I was particularly keen not to go through it again.

Sounds like a few itchy spots is a fair price to pay and nowhere near as bad as the full blown thing
