We've always taken our van away all year round, I've never noticed much difference in numbers on sites, they are busy during the main holidays and quieter in between. Out of season we also see families (parents and grandparents) with pre-school children taking advantage of lower costs along with retirees and a few who spread their holidays from work throughout the year.

. If sights were £12 a night in October, November, January, February, March I would not take advantage.
If that was the case we, and I suspect many others, would take advantage of it. As we are away for over 250 nights a year the cost of sites is important to us. We certainly could not afford to tour as we do if we had to pay the full club site price all the time. We do not intend reducing the number of nights that we use our van and so are content to use suitable CLs and commercial sites.

I think reducing the price during the winter months could be a valid trial, providing that peak prices are not hiked to to compensate

We are members of the C&CC and use their club sites off peak and enjoy the discounts , we couldn't afford to stay on cc sites we use, cl sites.Also I might add as a senior citizen I get a special rate for my membership , I have been a member of the caravan club for 48 years and I get a small sticker at 45 years to put in my caravan window [ big deal]

That applies to many of us but others struggle. Being fair to all though means no discounts in general but I do think that families of four or more could get something on many sites as the numbers add up far more than I think can be justified although the £1 for children ones do help.

The whole idea of consessions, promotions, incentives, call them what we may is to maximise potential as best possible. In the case of sites, that is to maximise wheels and feet on pitches and with this increased income. Such initiatives are aimed at specific audiences, sometimes that audience is me, at other times, others. Some were appropriate in a past phase of my life, others now. If the end result is good for our club and good for fellow members so be it I say!

Lets be simple or the site will crash. Get rid of the multitude prices quoted and go for say three seasons. Extend the Mid Week discounts to all the sites with vacancies. That should benefit us old farts but make any discount available to all with no discrimination. The CC needs to be more creative. The next 2 outings by us is Morris Leisure using their 3 for 2 offers which makes them competitive with CC with mid week discounts. Loss of income again to CC. No age discrimination in their offer.

It does nor really trouble me either. However, on a phone, if you want to get to what's below it takes about 12 swipes, which is cumbersome and time consuming. A simple statement, as before, that the site had mid week discount with the dates is all that is required.

I agree the pricing profile appears unnecessarily complicated, but I can't really see why folk get so exercised about it. Surely the only relevant price is for the period you're trying to book, why worry about other times. And just maybe it's a response to the criticism levelled againstthe C&CC ( including by many on here) that their prices are not transparent enough before booking with them?

As a 65-year-old I am content with the current CMC policy of no age discounts. As a retired person now, I try to plan my trips where possible to be 'off peak' and so cheaper, and less crowded. For instance, I am at Ferry Meadows this week, Mon to Thu nights, which is cheaper than last week which was half term. My few 'nightmare' trips in the past have been at peak holiday times - higher prices, facilities block queues and not treated properly (!), children endlessly cycling around the site, yobbo teenagers kicking footballs near caravans and motor homes, supposedly 'supervising' grandparents having tea parties whilst ignoring the behaviour of the kids...

Nice chat about age concession. The Caravan club sells Camping Cheques. Which were 16 euros per night for two people.( Its changed now ) The price for Camping Cheques UK were £14.95 Camping Cheque France was something like £12.5 depending on the EURO rate.There are quite a few sites in the UK who take Camping Cheques .only out of the season JULY & AUGUST . The CCC club sells ACSI Books with ACSI discount card . The acsi system has been taking sites from Camping Cheques for some years. Both of the clubs' sites with the very limited facilities supplied would not get into either of these CLUBS . I get the impression that both British Clubs are more like commercial organisations .
