Disintegrating aerial point

Hi everyone,

we recently discovered that our internal aerial point (where you plug the coaxial into which then goes into the tv) has been slowly disintegrating which is why our reception was iffy.

At the moment only 1 of the 4 'sides' is in place so we cannot use it ( we are using a very long cable round to the other point in the middle of the van) .

My question is:  We would like to replace the broken aerial point ourselves (van out of warranty)How do you get the panel off so we can replace the aerial socket?  For info the square plate also has a 12v power socket on it.

Many thanks

Hello Pieman, You haven't advised type of socket. If it is the small darkish ones that are appx. 50mm square the outer can be prised off by getting a knife under then you will see that the remainder is held in by two screws. Hope this helps.

Mine too is a bit like a picture frame. As Richard says, just prise off the outer frame and then unscrew the plate. You may consider, doing what I did when mine did exactly the same and that's replace it with an F type socket and make up a corresponding fly! Much more substantial and makes a more reliable connection.
