Hi

We are looking at attending the Cambridge Folk festival this year, the festival campsite doesn't cater for caravans so we are looking for recommendations /advise on sites in the area with ehu. Preferably  not to far from the festival site.

Thanks in advance.

We have stayed many times at Highfield Park Touring Park at Comberton on the west side of the city. If that is the sort of site you want phone Beverley in the office there and ask whether there is room - she is very helpful. The site reviews are on UKCampsite.co.uk

The festival recommends Coldham’s Common for caravans and motorhomes. Its only Cherry Hinton Hall which is tents only.

We stayed at the C&CC site many years ago and it was just a big field with a toilet block. Nothing special at all, but may have changed now. Handy for p&r into Cambridge and some local pubs.

The CC site is very close to the folk festival so might be booked up early. It felt rather a 'cramped' site but would be fine if you are out all day.

Stayed at the C&CC site twice now and enjoyed it both times.  Mostly grass pitches but in the summer that shouldn't be a problem.  Didn't find it cramped. Handy location.

We have stayed at the C&CC site which is much more open than Cherry Hinton. It has been upgraded a few years ago, some pictures here It is on the other side of Cambridge compared to the Club site.

yes it is a nicer site, it is just a pity it is not open all year. Very handy for Duxford and the American Cemetry

The C&C site at Great Shelford Cambridge, is a great site with plenty of room and many hard standings and excellent toilet block (still have mops & buckets!).

We prefer this open site to Cherry Hinton which tho clean etc its the location tat can be dark and dismal.

I have seen similar sugestions as this on numerous pages and have always been confused by them as when typing in site name (Great Shelford Cambridge,) it can not be found!! the nearest cc is in Limekiln lane not Great Shelford. is this the site you are refering to Trini?

Brian - it was the CC site that I said was rather 'cramped' not the C&CC site

David - that looks massively different to when we went there years ago.

As I said, it was then just a big, grass field. We were sent into the middle of the field to pitch and, as we did so, the warden came rushing over and told us that we were in the wrong place and must move........by about a foot!

    We enjoyed it there though......

I have visited Cherry Hinton CC site a number of times over the years. I shall not use the site again however due to the poor visibility on exit.

When I next wish to visit the area I will probably join the C&CC
