Automatic dip headlights
I have a Nissan Qashqai which is fitted with automatic dipping headlights.
Can I use this feature while driving on the right, or will I have to use manual?
Many thanks
Derek

We have this system on our Range Rover. Whilst I will admit that it does react very quickly in normal driving conditions it can be caught out if you are travelling ( in the UK ) around a left handed bend. The cars coming the other way will sometimes not activate the auto dipping because of the position of their beams. So use it but so be careful that sometimes it will not respond.

So far as I know, the rule on the continent is that your lights when dipped must not dazzle oncoming traffic. So unless your car has a flat beam you will need deflectors. Automatic dipping is a different question and I'm sure is perfectly ok to leave turned on, but if in doubt turn it off!

Are the lights Bixenon? Almost certainly will be with auto dip. If so, will have a symmetrical (flat) beam as you cannot fit deflectors to xenon lights. If assymetrical (kick up on left side) they will have a method of switching over for driving on right, either manual switch or within the settings on the computer.
