Write your comments here...They would only be increasing the prices on the very sites that everybody complains that they cannot get on as they are always fully booked. Other sites which normally have spare capacity would not be affected.
There would always be CC sites that families would be able to afford. So the CC would be encouraging families. They would be offering everybody choice. Choice is good.
Cheers...........K
Why should families be dicouraged by pricing from using the central York site or Chatsworth or Baltic Wharf?
As for everybody complaining that they cannot get in? Me thinks thou doust exagerate. I have no desire to use Baltic Wharf, nor Chatsworth although I have by chance been to each on one past occasion. I would not wish to be at the CC site
in York either. I am sure that I am not alone,You are not alone ET, we have been to Chatsworth once, never to BW although we went and looked at it, and we have no wish to stay at Rowntree, much prefer Beechwood.

We're with you there, too ET. Certainly would not use Rowantree as we don't think a very attracive site. We have used a much smaller one on the other side of the city as well as CLs in the area. Have no interest in using BW and use a CL when we want to visit

I suppose it depends which way you wish to cut your cloth. Weekends are popular with many sites being completely booked most of time they are open. Many sites are under used during the weekdays. Does that not suggest one is too cheap and the other too expensive? I suppose the Club could take the speculate to accumulate route by lowering mid week prices in order to attract more customer. If that did not work they would make a further loss. You could offset that midweek discount by increasing weekend prices a bit to keep income on a even keel. The problem really is nobody wants to loose out but are perfectly happy to gain something and that is a difficult circle to square!

At least one site we were on this year cost less than last year so the idea things just go up is not true. Some sites lost their mid week discounts so clearly it does not work on all sites and the club should by now have a good idea which sites need it.
It has to improve income to work and that will not always be the case with sites.0 -
Castleton with a big catchment area gets MWD.Lady Margaret which is fairly remote desnt. Strange.
I've just stayed there. It's not a site I'd call remote. 30mins from Chester, 40 from Shrewsbury. Just over an hour to Manchester or Stoke on Trent. A short distance from the A5 and easy access to the wider network. Train station within walking distance.
It can't be that remote because I stayed there It cost me £34 for two nights (late stay as well) I thought it was great

Interesting to read who does/doesn't use a site and if a MWD has any effect.
Looking at the UK booking pages there seems to be 2 versions of MWD (?). e.g. Look at the explanation of MWD on say the Poolsbrook page - the discount is 50% of pitch fees when applicable....pretty much what we would all expect based on previous years. Now look at the MWD definition on the offers/MWD section - and the discount says 50% of booking!! Oh wouldn't that be nice - and I'm sure that would make a difference to the number of bookings.....but I think that might get amended quite quickly, can't see the 'club' giving that much away....

I think it is down to usage rather than anything else. Not sure about Castleton but it is in an area with lots of sites both club and commercial. Lady Margaret's Park has far less competition so tends to be fairly heavily booked so I take it the need for a discount is less.

I had a e-mail from the Club today promoting the MWD, all the sites are listed here

Afraid to say it is misleading as the prices shown are only discounts on the pitch fee!!
Is this a genuine mistake or does the marketing department not realise what they are doing?

Now that's a shame. If it was true we would certainly be taking advantage of it!!

"Book a midweek stay at one of our selected sites and you can save 50% on your booking. That’s any Monday to Thursday booking on any of our 48 Club sites and four Affiliated sites in 2017"
This is what it states in the club's web page where it lists the sites that it lists. To me it infers that it's 50% saving on the total cost on all of the 52 site listed for any 4 day - Monday to Thursday - booking during the whole of the time that the sites are open. I suspect that it's an error but if not we'll be visiting a few of those sites for the 4 days mid week.

Have sent am e-mail to the Club's site Team complaining that this statement is wrong, after trying to book one of the MWD sites for a 4 day period in July which came out at full price, as expected.

Hi SteveL - dunno...but not long is my guess!!
Maybe I'm being cynical? nah - just realistic....
We might as well tell the Club cos the wardens won't honour the 'error' if you point it out when booking in at a site!
I wonder if I get a 'discount' or something for proof-reading their documents? About as much chance of that as all the others being paid to test the new web-site!!! Hey ho....

look at the link given by David Klyne in his post above
Go into any area and choose a Mid Week Discount site Look for the purple MWD logo and click on "read full details of offers". It lists by every individual date that the MWD pitch price is active

I think we all know it is only 50% off the pitch price and then only for selected dates. However, below the photo at the top of the page they clearly state.
Book a midweek stay at one of our selected sites and you can save 50% on your booking. That’s any Monday to Thursday booking on any of our 48 Club sites and four Affiliated sites in 2017.
So that's 50% of the full price, for any Monday to Thursday, anytime in 2017 at the selected sites. Someone new to the CC would be justifiably confused. Are these things not proof read?👎

It certainly looks like that hasn't been proof read. My first language isn't even English, but I can see there is a difference between the words "booking" and "pitch fee".
As you say, Steve, someone new to the club would be justified in thinking that to mean the total cost, and who could blame them?
1 -
That's exactly the point I was making. Could the club be sued under the Trades Description Act if they don't honour what they advertise?

I would think it rather difficult, as despite what they have stated, when you actually make your booking it presents you with a price that you agree too. I would assume you would have to bring the matter up with the CC prior to making the booking. Some shops when challenged on this sort of thing, have honoured the first few challenges, then changed their advertising and refused later requests. Perhaps the CC might adopt this approach. However, more likely will just say it is a mistake as they have done with other pricing blunders.

I'm sure that will be the case but it doesn't explain why the advert was put out in it's present form. With all the folk they employ at HO how do they come up with such a misleading ad I wonder. Does not inspire confidence in the whole set-up.

The phrase that includes the words 'organise' and 'brewery' springs to mind.

On a camping trip when we had the MH and our friends first sowed the idea of a caravan, we stayed on a lovely site at the bottom of the Caen Hill Locks. After a lunch in a pub serving Wadworths 6X we went into Devizes. The girls went shopping, the boys, with permission went to a brewery tour. However we missed the last tour of the day, so retired to the tasting room, where we had the proverbial 'pi55 up in a brewery'. The girls saw the funny side.
This 'camping' lark provides some great experiences and memories.
