Hi all, Just putting the finishing touches to my holidays and I was wondering if anybody had been to River Breamish, and if so has anybody got any advice. Thanks

A good site for visiting the Northumberland coast - Seahouses , Farne Islands, and Bamburgh -all well worth a visit. Also good for walking and cycling up the Ingram Valley -- Just a Brill part of the Country - ( I am of course biased ! )

We stayed there a couple of years ago. Absolutely lovely site but you will need to travel to see the sites that Northumberland has to offer (and it is worth it). There is a general store attached to the service station nearby (500 yards away) but otherwise you'll need to drive to shop.
Just a word of warning. Beware that if you have a dog and walk it in the area then there are adders present.

Ah, adders, what beautiful creatures they are, so many of our reptiles/amphibians are treatened by us and they generally will only become an issue if we threaten them. Love to see them but only seen one twice in my life. I'd go there just in the very slight chance of spotting and photographing one!

We seem to be quite lucky with spotting adders, Micky. Usually on a boardwalk at Walberswick. We normally have to wait while it decides to stir itself and move obligingly out of our way. We have no problem waiting as they are indeed beautiful creatures.

We live near to Hamsterley Forest and take the dogs there 3-4 times a week.
We average 1 Adder sighting a year - but every time only for a few seconds as they're always desperate to get away. And often in places you wouldn't expect to find them ...
There are quite a lot of people who walk dogs there and we've only met one person whose dog was bitten. It was ill but survived.
We just ignore the possibility - the alternative would be to become paranoid and spoil our and the dogs' enjoyment. But we're always prepared and have talked through what we'll do if it ever happened.

Beautiful site, we had a few nights there 2015 on a Northumberland tour. Lovely walks from site but you do need transport to explore. Read the signs of wildlife spotted, otters adders deer plus loads more 😃. Set off site towards the water and very quickly came across an adder which was a surprise, only second time I've seen one, observed it for a bit and changed direction so as not to disturb.
Would love to get up that way again very soon as such a beautiful area- but don't tell everyone 😉

Stayed at Breamish a couple if years ago, lovely site, lots of nice walks directly from the site.
Like Bakers2 commented it is a bit remote and it isn't that near to the coast. Alnwick is worth a visit though.
Didn't see any adders unfortunately.
