Morris Leisure, owner of 4 quality touring parks some of which are alread affiliated to the Club, is to establish a new 54 pitch touring site in Llanberis in the heart of Snowdonia. Very handy for those wanting to climb Snowdon or take the train to the top. Pity the Club could not have done it but it might become another AS.

I have booked at this site in Llanberis for a week in June. Searched and found this old post of 2015.

The site opened in March 2016. Has anyone visited this site and can give me any reviews. Booking this site on line does not seem to allow any discount for C.C. members and therefore the nighty charge for two works out just over £30, a little steep I think. The A.S. Site in Ludlow (another Morris Leisure site) does give a discount.

There price list shows they do give a small deduction for CC members. Not stayed at Llanberis but when we have booked other ML sites, there has been a place to tick you are a CC member and the deduction was applied when we handed over one of our cards on arrival, this was kept as deposit for the barrier card.

Stayed at this site for a week in June 2016

It is very well laid out, big pitches and supremely well kept with a pristine facilities block and perfectly manicured grounds.

A great location for exploring Snowdonia and further afield, we spent a couple of days on Anglesey and we walked Snowdon from the site, (up the Llanbris path, down the Rangers path). Llanberis itself is a little run down in places, the village could do with some investment but it does have the Electric Mountain centre and the slate mining museum which is interesting, plus the mountain railway if walking up Snowdon isn't your thing.

Around the edge of the site is a public footpath which isn't segregated from the pitches so security is a consideration though we never experienced anyone wandering around the site that shouldn't have been. That said... I have one gripe, the site is positioned on the edge of a disused quarry and next to a factory (Siemens) At the time of shift change at the factory there's a lot of traffic noise bleeding into the site. At night, there's an element of the local youths who meet in their cars for some burnout action on the now vacant quarry access roads. Tyres screeching and engines revving etc, really not very nice. I suspect there may have been some complaints about this to Morris and they will no doubt have contacted the police to have this cut out. Certainly in June is was going on. Unpleasant.

If you have dog, the adjacent wood is great with a network of paths running through it. Perfect for letting your dog roam. Again, on occasion, can be a place for the local youth element to congregate.

Would I go back? Doubt it

Looks an interesting site. I couldn't get Peedee's link to work or rather it works but comes up with a 404 error so here is the link direct to that site.

I've always liked the Morris Leisure site at Bridgnorth but liked the Shrewsbury one less (mainly because how a member of the group we were with was spoken to by the wardens).  They do have some quality sites and I will try and visit the Snowdonia one at some stage.

Last year Morris Leisure had an offer of 3for2, early and late off peak season.  Last year's offer is still on the website (1.10.16-16.12.16). Wouldn't mind trying Llanberis if that offer was on again, but wouldn't pay £25 a night for it; had a look round it last March while we were staying at the hotel; it was ok, but a bit of a cold and clinical feel to it, perhaps because it hadn't opened that long before and was still new?

We have used it on the 3 for 2 offer last year. Superbly placed in Snowdonia, walking distance to town and its attractions including Snowdon Railway. Good bus services to other places. Extensive woodland to rear of site with good walking /dog areas. New site so facilities are 5* With Cls locally at £20 fees are not excessive but would only use off peak myself

This was our first ever trip in our Motorhome, and we picked a great site.

Staff were extremely welcoming when we arrived and very helpful. Unfortunately we picked a weekend where the rain didn't stop, but we were in Wales after all!

Site is flat and well serviced, and the warden even offered us a free TV cable to try if our TV signal was poor. As it turned out it was fine.

Good amenities incl excellent toilet and showers and MH service point. A 10/15 min walk into Llanberis and lots of coffee shops and pubs were available.

Visited the Slate Museum which was free, most interesting. Would certainly return in better weather

We stayed in 2017 and there is quite a lot to do in walking distance of the site. A good quality campsite and very similar to many CMC sites in look and feel. Some pictures here http://www.davidklyne.co.uk/llanberis_touring_park.html
