Bleep bleep bleep
Hi all.
Before I go and trawl the interweb for hours, thought I'd throw this one the you all.
My new caravan won't disable the reversing sensors on my Freelander 2, so when reversing I get that really annoying bleep bleep bleeeeeeeeep. I can't disable the sensor on the dash. Dealer said it could be because the van has LED lights which don't have the resistance to instruct the car to turn them off. True or False.
Thanks all.

IS the towbar a factory fit? IF so it should disable them. Did it work ~OK on your last van, if so then its probably the LED lights. Also check all the lights work correctly on the caravan. What caravan make is it, if its a SWIFT they supply a module to stop this and make sure all lights work which your dealer will supply you, other makes such as Bailey are less helpful....

You seem to have two threads on this going so I'll reply here also.
Assume you have the CANBUS loom installed and not the Bypass relay. If it is pre 2013 it needs coding, if post 2013 the loom is just connected and that's it.
If you can see the 'trailer' icon on the dash when indicating then it has sucessfully detected you have a trailer plugged in and will automatically disable the rear sensors, if you can't see the trailer icon then it hasn't detected the load.

I had a similar problem with a Kia Sorento. There was no cut out switch for sensors. Dealer said a cut out switch could be fitted , but did not recommend it because of cambus wiring and may lead to other faults , so I just put up with it . My new Sorento has a cut out switch fitted on dash board
