Inappropriate?
Today we got the CC magazine and one of the flyers was for a funeral plan? Considering this is a leisure activity for enjoyment, the last thing one wants is to be reminder that oen day you will fall off the perch. Surely flyers regarding our activity would be more appropriate instead of flyers for disabilities or death? Are we all old codgers waiting at death's door like the CC seem to class us?

I don't think it's anything to get worked up about. I never read the flyers as they go straight in the bin.

As the majority seem to be 'elderly'
it seems quite appropriate to me. Not something to be ignored, there might be a bargain in there somewhere.In fact we are looking into our own funerals at the moment

To be honest, the loose advertising guff that comes with the magazine never registers with me - it just goes straight in the recycling bin (the mag itself follows shortly after!). But I might have a look now if it's likely to save me a few bob, tight wad that I am!

We do keep the magazine to read through, but flyers go straight in the recycling. Can't say I ever look at them, the same with those in other magazines. Although I can't say the content mentioned particularly bothers me. There are quite a few similar on the TV at the moment.

Living in a part of the country where the surfing culture is all as I do, almost every imaginable unnecessary possession or gift you can think of is or soon will be available in the shape of, or with an image of, a VW camper van - keyrings, teapots, trays, calendars, towels, toys, toilet lids, and garden ornaments are the more obvious and commonplace ones.
So it's a bit surprising I have yet to see coffins in that shape. We lie in them alive and so why not for eternity? After all if you sign 'em up when they're young....

The OP was tongue in cheek in case any one missed that. The magazine is hardly worth looking at and some of the flyers are more interesting.
As for funeral, my will is that my body is carted off to the crematorium, ashes scattered with no eulogy, no service or any one crying over me. Just quick and simple as by that time you are just a lump of dead rotting meat! LOL!.

Don't use the Coop, our friends are in the process of taking them to court after they gave away Her late Mothers ashes to be scattered by someone else. This is despite keeping them informed of the plan's and arrangements the family had for a scattering from a RNLI boat off shore at Her favorite beach as per her wishes.
The Coop have dealt with the situation very badly so far
Hence taking them to court.Me, a black bag on bin day will do for me

They can't get the ashes back as they have been scattered. They do know where they were scattered and have visited the site but that is of little consolation
The ashes AFAIK were returned by the Crematorium to the funeral directors. It is the Coop who have made the unreversible mistake but are unwilling to make a reasonable refund and a contribution to a bench or something else as a marmoreal.
It's not about the money for our friend and her family, it's the "Opp's Sorry attitude" they have taken on the situation. If they are forced to pay any compensation it will be passed on to a charity that care for the elderly. The bad press they may get if the incident is reported locally won't do them any favors either.
A very sad situation at a time when this sort of thing is the last thing you need
