Had some great New Year breaks over the years in the van. Maybe just coincidence but the last half dozen times always had a great dollop of snow.

I'm actually lying down slightly stunned as we have managed to get into Rowntree Park for New Year 17-18..do hope we are not disappointed.

    Hi Starbys

Why not book in for a few nights at the Sandringham Estate Club Site.

Its in your home county so if it not to your liking you are not to far from home.

However, if you enjoy your stay you are set for life.

Give it a go and we will look after you.

    Regards Keith .Site Warden.

In December 2003 we attended our first New Year Rally with our centre, Devon & Cornwall, and have done so every year since.

We did so initially so that a little boy that we were looking after could be entertained and, at age 15 and 6ft 3inches, he will be with us as always when we go to Charmouth on December 28th.

We will meet up with friends who, until September this year, we only saw at that one rally and will have a great time, fully chilled with no driving worries and, whilst we do enjoy holidays were we do absolutely nothing, will not see the cooking-not a lot, cleaning-even less, and bed making-that's a doddle, as negatives easily offset by good company, food and drink.

Once last thing, thanks to all those who have, and do, organise rallies that we can enjoy all year round.

Just returned from a great stay at Burrs and going to Melrose for New Year. First visit to Melrose for New Year so I am not sure what to expect.

As to the weather, it seems to me that we do not get winter any more in this country as it remains mild and occasionally wet. I look forward to the return of proper winter weather to test out the insulation of my new motorhome. We stayed at Wharfedale a few years ago in a Swift Escape and the temperature dropped to minus 9. We remained comfortable particularly if you remember your slippers.

Too expensive. Waiting till 4/1 when fees are reasonable. The amount of availability over Xmas shows fee structure wrong.

Have spent last 10 years caravanning over Xmas / New Year. Plenty of sites to choose from, including Cl's. Have stayed on commercial sites and Caravan Club sites. Lucky here in South Wales, with Tredegar House and Pembrey. Have also been further afield over the years, crossed the BRIDGE. Love it. Caravans these days are for ALL year use. Just take extra precautions. Blwyddyn Newydd Da ichi gyd.

If anyone says caravanning isn't addictive, then this is proof.

Snow, rain, wind or cold doesn't stop the serious campers from getting out there and doing something a bit adventurous.

I think today's caravans are so comfortable and well insulated that they are all-weather leisure items and English caravans are built to take the climate in the UK well. Our Coachman Amara caravan was toasty warm even on crisp mornings. Sorry to have sold it.

I'm off with a couple of mates we've gotten to know since coming back to Australia. We're off to a rally . . . . or "muster" as the locals say here . . . at a spot on the River Murray, Australia's longest river system (about 2,000 miles long)

Since our time in Britain each summertime going from rally to rally sight-seeing, my wife Ginnie, and I am totally addicted to rallies, although they are only ever weekend occasions and, unfortunately,  haven't been to one longer than a few days.

Hopefully there'll be a few campers turn out to make the occasion worthwhile.

Happy New Year to you all.

Staying at Hillcroft CL, Kilgetty, with friends. Enjoying the "craic", walking the beach at Saundersfoot and Tenby and having a couple of Doombars. Thinking of joining the New Year swim cool. Yes only thinking.

Yet again Blwyddyn Newydd Da ichi gyd.
