Whilst we all seem to be getting to grips in one way or another with changing our avatars.  Part of the original poster’s dilemma was taking away location below avatar.  I wonder has anyone been able to do this yet?  I have only noticed 1 poster with no location below his avatar JayEss but can’t remember which discussion so will try & find it another day.  I suppose there is always the possibility that JayEss is a full time motorhomer.

In my profile I have not ticked the box to show where I am from but as you can see it is showing. Given that this is personal information and I have chosen for it not to be displaid, isn't the CC guilty of contravening the data protection act? This needs to be corrected, and fast!

This is the reply I've had back from the club. Same old response. Will it happen

    Dear Brian

This issue is work in progress and we hope to have a resolution shortly.

What is the real problem with displaying an area where you live or for that matter the type of outfit you have? Hardly very revealing.

Are you being funny.!!! The real problem is I don't want it shown. There is a tick box to tick if you want your area shown this doesn't work.

It was something everyone could do previously, I expect it will be restored.

Struggling with your righteous indignation tbh.

Your username is AndyNYorks which probably indicates your first name and location, you post an image in your avatar that is probably your good self, that can be copied into any number of websites to match an image and probably identify you. Clicking on your username tells you are 'North Yorkshire Centre Past Chairman'. That's an awful lot of personal information in a few seconds of looking tongue-out

I would totally agree. I had not ticked it previously. More automatic than anything, never show more data than you have to. I understand peedee's point it is only the county, however, you are clearly given a choice and it is unacceptable that it does not work. If they could not fix it immediately, they should have removed all locations until they could.

No I was being serious. Information of a rough location and outfit can be useful in phrasing a reply.

I agree with Peedee that a rough indication of where someone lives is handy in certain circumstances. An example would be when giving advice on ferries or night halts. If someone can be seen as living in Cornwall you will think twice, or at least construct the answer more carefully before suggesting they drive all the way to Dover in order to cross to France. In some circumstances it saves a lot of misunderstandings. Likewise it is also handy to know if someone has a caravan or a motorhome as the same misunderstandings can happen. If you wanted no location information and you were ever in the position of asking for advice you would have to divulge far more information which would seem counter productive?

At this moment in time the OP’s personal choices regarding his personal info are not being adhered to.  Others on CT have also commented on the same thing & that their locations are wrong/no longer exist etc.

As there has been no answer to the OP's question quote 'Is this related to the website update? someone in HO will see this problem & things will be corrected.

While I have no problem with showing my location, it is and should be a choice for the individual.

This morning I was in East Yorkshire, now I am in Shetland, much cheaper to holiday this way, that's why its snowing cool

Agreed but difficult to understand the paranoia about revealing a rough location.

Who wants to admit living in a 'Rough Location'? I can think of few places we've passed through which might fit that description!

I changed my location, as I didn't want my location to be shown originally, back on the old website. I had not ticked this option yet it still shows, and yesterday it reverted back to the original, despite me doing nothing. What is the point of having options for functions, if the options don't work?

Come on CC This is ridiculous get your act together, close the site until you have got it sorted. Your response's via email are a waste of time. Nothing is getting done, I reported this by telephone and by email on the first day of the new site.

    Get it sorted.yell

Just noticed the location has disappeared from below some Avatars so maybe now we can change mobile phone details etc if we need to.

It states on my profile the county where I live but I now have to tick the box for it to be visible. I don't know whether the county list has been corrected or does it still contain ones that don't exist anymore?

The reason I don't have a profile picture is because in 2017 the CandM club discussion board still needs Adobe Flash Player, a piece of software that even Adobe are moving away from because of all the security issues with it.

Anyone with an Apple iOS device is out of luck, and if you try and use it in Google Chrome you get a nice warning about only allowing trusted sites to use Flash.

Please CandM club move to HTML5 standards and ditch the 1990's Flash Player content.
