Having used the discussion pages for some years I notice the layout has changed and the type/font is very pale and difficult to read. Is it just me?

No , its not just you, its been mentioned on the new website thread. Pale grey and pale green is very difficult to read unless you have perfect eyesight, it also apparently works better on apple products, I don't have either. wink

If you look around the web, e.g. the BBC ,Amazon, EBay, M&S Debenhams the Caravan & Camping Club and virtually all the newspaper websites use a black font on a white background I presume because it is easier to read.

The Caravan Club , however, chose pale grey and pale green, possibly because it makes it more difficult...wink

Justus. I think it would be fair to say that the BBC and many others use the same colour font as the CC. The headlines are in black but the script is in grey.

    See here.

Presumably, it also costs more or why would The caravan Club be using it?

    Makes composition a real eyestrain.

More likely because it is Club colours, well pale green at anyrate. I wear glasses and I find you can make web pages more readable by running the pages at 125 percent zoom. Alternatively go into your settings and change the colours.

Hmmm you cannot add a photo in edit mode. Attached is an example of setting you own colours of text. Right click and select new tab or view image to see it without scrolling.

The grey could be tweaked slightly to improve the contrast. I think this was adjusted on the previous site updates after many requests... I'm sure the CC are aware of this by now..

I don't have a problem with the colour it's the whole layout. I have contacted the club and I accept that all new things take some getting used to but this new layout follows no easy logical pattern for navigation and ease of use. Several people I know have been so frustrated that they have vowed not to renew. When we designed or company site we had to assume that people using it are not Web savvy and design accordingly. This had been designed by someone totally computer literate.

I think it is easier to navigate than the old version! It is clearer to see where to go from the sub menus. CT is the only area that gives me difficulty, functionality there has been sadly neglected.

It seem to be working fine on my crome book and easier to navigate as i get used to it,but I do not know how to do pictures but that is probably my lack of computer skills but was a nightmare on my samsung tablet, but that was when it first started and on a cc site

To not renew membership simply because of a daft forum seems a bit over the top.

Do you mean computer illiterate, nd? I'd hardly think so even if it does leave quite a bit to be desired.

i think a site needs to be as simple as possible, and i dont think the new site is user friendly

I have just used my Android smart phone to reply to a message and found it no trouble at all. The scrolling right to left on the main topics page is not that bad, it would be nice not to have to but I am sure you get used to it. To try and fit it all in without scrolling may result in some very small print?

I would agree, it works fine on my iphone as well. However, I find the horizontal scrolling rather awkward, although I will probably get used to it. However, I don't see why it is necessary, particularly in landscape mode. Text would remain the same size, you would just scroll down one page, rather than down plus across multiple. A phone is just a small pad, on most these days the resolution is very good. Why can't it work like the pad, horizontal scrolling if you use it in portrait, vertical when used in landscape.
