New Years Day

Last week I made an online booking for 1-8 January at a club site.  When the confirmation came through I noticed that it said that if you are due to arrive New Years Day the site office will be closed so contact the site staff before arrival to discuss pitching.  OK I thought, I'll give them a ring nearer the time.  However the next day the warden rang to say that we couldn't come on the1st as they were closed!  So why did the system take our booking?

They have amended our booking for us to go on 31st, even though the site was showing as full.  We would have preferred going on the 1st when a lot of people would have gone home and we would have had a better choice of pitch, particularly as we are going with another couple.

I have emailed the Club to ask why did the system allow us to book when we can't arrive on 1st, and I am waiting for a reply from the Site Operations team, which they say will take up to 20 working days!  That is a month! Unbelievable!

Any one else had the same problem?

Its quite simple really, if they blocked the 1st January for every booking people who wanted a week or more that included the 1st wouldn't be able to book so they leave it open so that you and the Warden can  come to some agreement if you want to arrive on that day but obviously the Warden is taking his day off so can't accomodate you. Open all year sites only close for two days a year Christmas day and the 1st January.

Are you stuttering or is it the website?

Clearly the site isn't closed on the 1st. The Wardens obviously have a day off. Why not just put pitching instructions on the office door and go back on the 2nd to pay etc.?

CY I only press return once honestly, think the new site is far better and quicker then before. I know I'm tempting fate though.
