We left home on Friday 22nd August . Had an horrendous journey from my home town of Warrington. Lots of hold ups and a few accidents and arrived 2 hours late for the train. No problems we were just put onto the next one and arrived at out first site which is always Bien Assise. We were by then nearly 3 hours late but  the manager (or owner  never sure) was waiting for us and took us to our pitch. We always book this site through Caravan Club. It is lovely and clean everyone is helpful and only 8 miles from the train terminal. We left early and reached our next site in Champagne -Ardenne in about 4 hours. As usual in France the motorways are almost empty we aim to drive about 250 miles a day, The site is Kawan Village Le Lac d'orient and we paid for it with camping cheques. Its a lovely site on the edge of one of the biggest man made lakes in France and ideal for water sport lovers. We left the next day and drove to a site 3 minutes off the motorway at Lyon. It is called Indigo Lyon, a big site alsoi n the Camping Cheque book with cheques bought from The Caravan Club , it is literally 4 mins off the motorway but hardly any motorway noise is heard. \we left the following day and arrived at Caravaning Esterel. We actually found this site our selves but then found it in th Caravan Club European book. Its a fantastic site with a variety of pitches some even have a jacuzzi on.Unfortunatly ours has'nt! So this is the end of the first episode, So far we have saved a bit of money. We used our caravan club card whenwe used th Birmingham toll Road.As we were towing we got less than half price abd paid less than a car price.  We also took advantage on the Club page of obtaining a Teleplage pass we fixed it to our window screen abd we sail through the tolls whilst others are queing and will settle the bill when we get home. That and the Camping Cheques both from Caravan Club Site. Will keep you all updated.

Apart from the bad traffic on your way to France, I'm glad you are having a good time and are managing to make some savings with The Club on your holiday! I look forward to your next instalment and any pictures you may have too. Happy holidays! Smile

Been busy since we got back. Esterel is a fantastic site, we went last week August ane 3 weeks in september. There is a late night once a week until 1 am but they drive round and let you know. plenty of twin axel vans there you just have to be careful. some
pitches are uneven. we had booked but were not keen on the pitch we were allocated it was sloping  but it was not a problem they gave us a plan of the site with pitches that were available for the time we were there. and we had a look round and we had a few
to choose from. the shop is always well stocked bread and croissants baked on the premises, take away is reasonable and very nice. Lovely bar and restaurant. reception staff nice and friendly, English is spoken some English people work there. The site is in
the middle of the Esterel National Park . Very beautiful area, train from Agay to major places Cannes Nice  etc.Lovely beach about a mile and a half away. Free parking just before you  go under a railway bridge. No train noise on site too far away. Would certainly
go again. We took 3 days to get there stopped over night at Le Bienne Assisse one night in Champagne and one night in Lyon , same coming back but when we go again would probably do 2 stops each way. Hope this helps you LJ Wrankmore ?
