We spent the day driving along the Route National roads, to avoid the heavy toll charges, with the exception of a short stretch on the toll motorway to bypass Tours. Last year we did not do this and it took forever to get through the city because of road works and heavy traffic so we decided never again and it only cost 1.80 Euros to go the 4 junctions from 19 to 23. The weather today was very heavy rain for the best part of it and when I say heavy, it was the worst rain I have ever seen. As we drove through agricultural areas you could see the rain across the open land and it looked like a fog had descended. Thankfully the rain stopped just as we arrived at our destination and the receptionist assured me we would be okay on the grass pitches down by the lake and if not they had a tractor to pull us off in the morning! The camp site was quite impressive, located right on the edge of a very large lake, with all manner of water sports. There was even a man-made beach and whilst the site was secure with a perimeter fence we were given a key fob to access the lake. It was a large site and included quite a number of static cabins, yurt’s, a heated swimming pool which was not yet open and 27 holes of golf, small shop and a café bar. At only 14 Euros a night plus 1Euro for Smokee it was a bargain. This was the first site where we had been asked if we had a cat and paid a charge for the privilege, I may leave him at home if they all did this! The shower facilities were also very good but the only thing that let it down, and as we have often found on French camp sites, was the hot water temperature was too low to wash the pots properly. This was in stark contrast to the municipal site the night before where it was very hot. They did have free Wi-Fi but it was only available at the reception area and was not very good, I could not get my emails but was able to check on the weather which was more rain to come over the next few days. We endured rain showers during that evening but none overnight and in the morning the grass had dried out a lot which meant we were able to drive off our pitch without the need of the tractor. We would certainly go back there again for a longer stay in a relaxing atmosphere and where we could cycle easily; they even had a bike wash on the site.

Regards, Roy
