Our first visit to Bury.

After a journey of just less than 300miles in dreadful weather conditions we arrived to a less than warm welcome. The site has so much to offer as it is part of a truly lovely country park.  We did lots of interesting walks The ducKs were very friendly, and we met some very intersting carved trolls in the woods.; you can walk around the park and see lots of clues as to our industrial past. On our walks we were amazed to see how well cared for the park is and how it caters for the local community, with a calendar of activities such as walks, nature trails and fishing competitions etc etc.  The whole park is ideal for dog owners.

 Bury is the town close by, which is famous for its market. We missed the market as it is only held on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday much to my annoyance, so we must have a return trip here as I do like a good market. One of the things that struck me in Bury was how nice, fresh and cheap all fruit and vegetables were.

The East Lancashire Railway under full steam runs almost through the site, perfect for steam buffs! There is so much to do in this area and one we have not visited before. The site is beautifully maintained and a credit to the wardens. In my book well worth a return visit.

    You didnt say where you came from? or where you stayed but as someone from the n west I can think of nicer places than bury to visit...

    I am glad you enjoyed the site.  Being brand new caravaners Bury was our first experience of caravaning.  We only live up the road in Bolton but wanted to practice some of the mysterious arts of caravaning such as leveling, erecting the awning and learning
    how all the other bits and bobs work. A new vocabulary had to be learnt with words such as jocky wheel, steadies and hitches to mention but a few.

    The wardens were really helpfull as were our neighbours and full of useful advice.  As to Bury, it has a fantastic new shopping complex a good sports center and within a twenty mile radius attractions to suit any taste.  This includes a state of the art
    concert venue in Manchester and on the doorstep some of the best countryside walks you could imagine.

    We went to Bury this year and the site was perfect, lots to see and do. the site was close to a bus route and it was only a 10 min trip into the town. The market was an education, don't think anything wasn't catered for and the day out we had on the steam train to visit other places en route was good and the club day out ticket meant it only cost £11 for the two of us to get on and off at will. A place to stay and local pubs had safe play areas for our grand daughter. As we are from the Wirral its a nice quick jaunt up there in around an hour.
