Enjoy the wildlife

Cambridge Cherry Hinton CC site is in a former quarry, which is also a nature reserve- there's plenty of wildlife about. On previous trips I have fed a 'tame' robin with crumbs, tried to shoo away the many rabbits (back in the winter they nibbled my television booster cable!) and even seen a mouse or vole climbing in a bush next to my caravan. I was a little miffed (!) this morning at 5am when the resident pigeons came to drink the water which had collected on the roof of my caravan from yesterday's rain- I wouldn't have minded if they just tiptoed up and sipped the water, but they kept on cooing very loudly, and stamped their feet (at least it sounded like that) as they walked on the roof! No more sleep for me. It was just as well that it was the last night of my Jubilee holiday trip, and I needed to get up in good time to sort everything out before travelling home!

Yes- the site is great because it is not just a flat field with rows of identical pitches, and it is so easy to walk into Cherry Hinton to get the groceries or a take away, and to walk or get a day bus ticket into Cambridge city centre.

Cherry Hinton definitely gets the Paws Up from me. Lovely site, lovely wildlife, and a lovely city. Lovely!
