Home or Away?
My OH and I talk a lot about the motorhome as it is a big feature in our lives as well as being a great source of enjoyment.
We often discuss and to date the reasons seem to add up to staying at home, what I mean by that is the travelling restricted to our lovely country. We have recently upgraded and got the MH of our choice and it is serving us very well and caters for all our needs very easily. The home comforts are truly duplicated and it is our pride and joy.
There is so much of our country that we have seen and equally not seen that is on offer to us and yet we still debate about taking the MH abroad.
So we sat and worked out the journey the cost of the 2x dog passport and the stays as well as the approximate fuel, I must admit it seemed scary if my sums are right. So comparisons are to look at the all inclusive holidays somewhere very hot and relaxing and utilise our MH for our holidays within this country.
I know we are fortunate to have the choice and have bashed this subject about in my head for long enough and read with interest the journeys that other club members have experienced abroad and may well never get this out of my system prior to doing it!!
So the moral of this story, well my belief is that MH for home and holidays abroad are for all inclusive flights to some hot destination for a couple of weeks, leaving my trusty steed at home.
Now I know that there will be many of varied thoughts on this and trust that you will all assist me and confuse us even more than we are now about to stay at home or away but will enjoy reading some of the comments (if any appear of course) that I may be armed to have further interesting debate with my OH.
Regards Pete

We were new to any form of camping and went abroad after only 9 nights spent on UK sites. We are almost home now to East Yorkshire but wished we had gone for longer than 2 months. We have really enjoyed the experience and thoroughly love 'living' in the
motorhome. Whilst we had plans and some commitments we had to fit into our journey when we chose to just drive and see where we ended up was great and for our next trip I think we will do more of that. For someone who has travelled a lot I am struggling to
think of a holiday that would beat the motorhome, perhaps Cuba and we cannot do that by road or else I am sure the motorhome would still win.Regards, Roy

After 14 years of motorhoming and then caravanning abroad for 5 or 6 weeks at a time we have finally decided that it has got too expensive for us to do it anymore. The ferry is very expensive now and the cost of living in EU countries has also gone up considerably.
So we have decided that we shall caravan in the UK in future. There is so much of this lovely country of ours that we haven't yet seen so we are looking forward to extended holidaya in the UK now instead of the usual 5 or 6 day break that we have done in
the past. Having said that we have had some wonderful times abroad and have some lovely memories.0
